New York: Ethyl Corporation, 1953. Facsimile of this famous map, in fine condition, on heavy paper, with folds as issued. This map measures 26x19 inches, and is folded into red linen boards, and then in a red slipcase with a leather spine, respectively in fine and very good condition. This was an important map in the history of oil exploration, and ths reproduction comes 22 page prospectus, also in fine condition, with the history behind the map. A very nice reproduction of an important map. .

Mansfield Centre: Martino Fine Books, 1999. Limited edition facsimile with the original 2 volumes (published 1937) bound as one. 543 pp. with an extensive bibliography, index and separate map list. 40 b&w plates. This is a major reference work on the region, including extensive listings of old and new place-names. The indices, place-names, bibliography and map list comprise vol. 2. Carlton (Australia): Queensberry Hill Press, 1985. Virtually new facsimile production (#83 of 155) with introductory text and keys to this famous map. Covers full gilt-panelled tan leather, in thin (a bit soiled) slipcase. The introduction discusses Thomas Ham, "...Melbourne's pioneer cartographer and map publisher..." in some detail. The first (1847) through 10th (1864) editions of this map are all discussed. The facsimile here (21 linen backed panels with hand colored outlines), with a copy of the orginal advertisement, is of the 1847 issue. This is a very nice and relatively scarce production.. Limited/Numbered. Full-Leather. Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

The American Friends of Lafayette , 1972. Interior excellent; green paper covers mildly soiled and worn, especially at edges (but intact). There were 500 copies of this printed by Princeton University Press and The Meriden Gravure Company, half of which bore the Princeton library imprint, the other half the imprint of The Friends of Lafayette. Inside front cover inscribed to original owner. The facsimile map image measures 12x17 inches, with fold as issued, and was hand colored (full tone collotype). It is an exact rreplica of the map from the Princeton University Library. The accompanying 10 page monograph details the history surrounding the map and its maker. Chinard was a pressor of French Literature at Princeton, Albion was also at Princeton (and a recognized authority in maritime and naval history), and Brown was the map curator at the William L. Clements Library. This is a very nice offering. . Limited. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.

Paris: Chez Duchartre et Van Buggenhoudt, 1927. Interior VG. Imitation vellum cover with printed cover (dual color), but a bit soiled. This was a special French facsimile edition, from the series "Collection Illustree des Grands Voyages en Amerique au XVIe. Siecle". Minimal foxing at outside edges, but the well-done facsimile plates are clean. Full rear index of plates. A nice volume of these important voyages. The original leather tie is missing.. Limited. Original Wraps. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by De Bry, Le Moyne. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Berlin: Mittler, 1925. Near fine, large 8vo (10 inch), with the original red cloth, gilt embossed cover and spine present, binding quite tight with very good, clean covers. The text is in excellent condition,and all 79 maps (78 & 79 are on one sheet) are present with original color coding. The cardboard flaps covering the rear map-case are in remarkable shape. xxxix, 392, with title page and portrait. In early August of 1914, the Schlieffen's plan became operational and the German Army invaded Luxembourg and Belgium. It did not, however, work as planned, and the Germans were held up by the Belgian Army, were shocked by the Russian Army's advance into East Prussia, and were surprised by how quickly the British Expeditionary Force reached France and Belgium. Cleveland: Arthur H. Clark Company, 1912. Large 8vo, minor rubbing covers, internally in excellent condition. There is a private owner's bookplate pasted inside the front cover. Alvord was at the Univ. of Illinois when he wrote this, with the intent of giving credit to early Virginians in these explorations. Sections include the dicovery of the Ohio waters, discovery of New Brittaine, discoveries of John Lederer, the role of Governor Berkeley as a promoter of these explorations, the Batts & Fallam expedition, the journeys of Needham and Arthur and more (including a memorandum by John Locke pertaining to the latter journeys). Illustrated by maps of explorations, facsimile of John Ledere's map and others (not heavily illustrated). This is a nice early historical account of the subject.. Cloth. Chicago: Rand McNally & Co.. Generally good with full printed color. A small (2 inch by 1inch) section of southern Australia is missing. There is some browning. This is an ENORMOUS folding wall map, bound into a cloth 8vo binder (some rubbing, but overall sound) There are few pencil marks on the map, but none is a serious visual distraction (this item is too large for me to send a digital image). The map is linen backed, consisting of 28 separate panels each mounted individually. The precise date (early to mid 20th century) is not shown, but Thailand is Siam and Sri Lank is Ceylon on this map. There are large metal rings to hang the map. The entire image measures about 38x58 inches. This is an impressive world map. .

St. Louis: Woodward &Tiernan Printing Co., 1910. Uncommon folding, pocket, railroad map on heavy paper, near fine condition, with image measuring 25x28 inches. There is an inset of "Map Showing St. Louis and Vicinity" in the upper right corner. Original printed color, all counties listed, with over 50 regional railway lines color-coded on the map. The cloth boards bear a neat owners signature on the front, gilt lettering ("Railroad Commissioners Map of Missouri 1910"); they are a bit soiled, but intact. .

San Francisco: The Grabhorn Press, 1927. VG, 4to. with 28 maps to supplement the text. There are sections on Cortez, the Jesuit surveys of the Baja, and on regional Native Americans from the perspective of early Span ish explorers. The slipcase is in good condition, with 2 small separations at the upper and lower edges (still functions as intended). This edition was limited to 1000 copies.
