W. L. Gibson. Texas Border Troubles Report. Brownsville, Texas. 1915. Typed report on 8.5 x 11 in. paper ("legal size") from law office of Frank C. Pierce. 7 pp. Signed. Rust marks from paper clips, stains and light wear. A few pencil corrections.
A detailed first hand investigation into the Texas border troubles, based on "10 or 12 trips along the Texas side of the Rio Grande;" a trip to Monterey, Mexico; and "6 or 7 trips to Matamoros, Mexico" since May of 1914. The vast majority of the report consists of accounts of the events along the border, including robberies, murders, train derailments, etc., and the actions taken against those suspected of undertaking these actions. For example:
On June 14, at horse races at Ranchito, Cameron County, Texas, Juan Guerra Lerma, Lupe Benavides and Pablo Leal were killed, the former (Larma) having shop the latter (Leal), but Sherriff Manahan having killed Juan Guerra Lerma. After the downfall of Napoleon Bonaparte, King Ferdinand VII of Spain refused to adopt the liberal Spanish Constitution of 1812 and in 1820 faced a rebellion in favour of a constitutional monarchy, led by Rafael del Riego y Nuñez. The King was captured and detained at Cádiz, where the Cortes, the Spanish parliament assembled. Signed by Kranz and five other flight directors: Chris Kraft, Glynn Lunney, Milton Windler, Pete Frank and Gerry Griffin on 4/24/2000. Kraft and Frank are now deceased. Kranz served as NASA's second Chief Flight Director, directing missions of the Gemini and Apollo programs, including the first lunar landing mission, Apollo 11. He is best known for directing the successful efforts by the Mission Control team to save the crew of Apollo 13 and bring them safely back to earth. Very scarce signed by these flight directors who are all discussed in the book. This is gift quality for the Space flight enthusiast.
