New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1889 Beautiful light brown cloth binding with a black floral border on the spine and front cover and red imprinting on the spine and front cover. The spine head and heel and the corner covers are bumped and rubbed; the spine has two tiny chips; and the heel has a tiny tear that is not through the entire binding but is starting to fray at the tear. The page prior to the title half-page has the previous owner's signature and a date: M.L. Newman, 1895. The endplates are illustrated with a very pretty floral design. The pages are crisp, clean, unmarked and uncreased. The one exception is an illustration between pages 62 and 63 that is coming loose. The illustrations are printed on a different paper, much stiffer and thicker. Tissue paper that is browning separates and protects the 1st illustration and the title page.
