The Art of The Illustrator by Percy V Bradshaw was published by The Press Art School, Forest Hill, London 1918. In 1918 Percy Bradshaw contacted 20 of the leading illustrators of the day and commissioned each of them for a special illustration. Each artist was given an entirely free hand as to subject, the only stipulation being that the painting or drawing should be representative of his/her technique and that each stage in its composition should be shown. Bradshaw then reproduced in 6 plates each step in the artistic process and published the 6 lithographs in a portfolio with a 12 page introduction and description of the process within a card folder. Sphere and Tatler, 1916. Print. New. Fortunino Matania. Lithograph print by Fortunino Matania on Paper. SIGNED PRINT. Size: 15" x 10" (381mm x 254mm). The Famous Four-Day Retreat From Mons: How the Wounded Helped The Wounded (World War I). One of a series of 12 artist proof signed prints produced for the Sphere & Tatler in 1916, 'With the British Army on the Western Front'. It was 2:30 in the afternoon, and between Le Cateau and Landrecies, and a party of wounded soldiers were resting on the floor of a small church over which the Red Cross flag was floating. A German shell burst open the door, smashing the beautiful pillars and moulded stonework, and further shells continued to burst upon the building, and so the wounded men, bearing as best they could their more severely wounded comrades along with them, fled to a more sheltered spot. Claus Brusen started painting in the mid 1970s and was influenced by Salvadore Dali and by artists found on rock album covers. He has also particularly mentioned Patrick Woodruff, who provides a foreword to this volume, and Victorian era painters such as Richard Dadd. In later years however he decided that he wanted to concentrate on what he has called the "everyday life" of fairies and other small creatures. Most of the art reproduced in this very handsome slipcase hard cover was created in oils painted on wood. Vaguely surreal and very charming. This is the printed cover page from The Sphere dated July 27th 1918 and is taken from Matania's personal archives. The scene depicts the German's pontoon bridges over the Marne with Paris as their objective. On July 15th a force of 100,000 enemy succeeded despite French artillery bombardment. A rare John Nyberg print, signed in full to the bottom of the page. This print was published in 1988 by Avalon Editions. John Nyberg began his career in 1985 working for First Comics. After a few years of working for Comico, Eclipse Comics and a few others, his first published work for DC Comics was published in 1988 in Action Comics. Later he worked on titles like Plastic Man, Tailgunner Jo and Christmas with the Super-Heroes. He is best known for his work on the titles Doom Patrol, Green Arrow and Flash. In later years, he was hired by Dark Horse Comics and later on by Marvel Comics. Nyberg has also inked plenty for Mike Mignola.

Published in the U.S.A. in 1988 by Avalon editions, it is a rare thing indeed to find this print this side of The Pond. Dealing a mix of horror and sci-fi with film noir aesthetics, Nelson dishes out plenty of goriness in this Monster print.

This is a hand signed limited edition print from the Blacksad series written by Juan Diaz Canales & drawn by Juanjo Guarnido. Widely admired as being a modern master of anthropomorphism, Guarnido has gained worldwide praise and the Blacksad series of graphic novels has gained huge notoriety. Now a series of 6 graphic novels with more being written, and even a video game being produced.

Look and Learn, 1971. Print. New. Carlos Roume. Set of Pen & Ink Washs by Carlos Roume on Board. PRINT. Size: 11" x 15" (290mm x 370mm). This story first appeared in Hurricane Comic in 1964 under the name Two Fists Against the World. It was drawn by the great Argentinean artist Carlos Roume who also worked on Kansas Kid and Kit Carson (Cowboy Picture Library) and Olac the Gladiator amongst many other features. When the story was reprinted in Look and Learn the original art was copied and grey wash tones added as well as new inking and text balloons. This is what is offered here: basically a hand-painted "stat" and not Roume's original work which has yet to resurface and in fact may very well not have survived. Each instalment was two pages in length. The story appeared in Look and Learn in issues 469-486; 9th January to 8th May 1971.
