New York: Charles Scribnerâs Sons, 1994. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/No Jacket. 6x1x9. First edition. No jacket. Light general wear. 1994 Hard Cover. xxii, 503 pp. "I doubt if, after all, I'll ever write anything again worth putting in print." F. Scott Fitzgerald was twenty-six when he wrote this lament to his editor, Maxwell Perkins, in 1923 - two years before Scribners published The Great Gatsby. Soon after Gatsby appeared, Fitzgerald wrote to H. L. Mencken, "I think the book is so far a commercial failure - at least it was two weeks after publication - hadn't reached 20,000 yet." Gatsby turned out all right in the end. But while Fitzgerald's roller-coaster reputation fell precipitously in the years approaching his death in 1940, his stature in American literature has risen steadily in the five decades that followed - the strongest restoration in American literary history. Yet his life and work have remained obscured by myth and…

Description:
London: Plymouth Press, 1998. Reprint. Soft Cover. Near Fine. 6x0x9. Reprint. Minor general wear. 1998 Soft Cover. 64 pp. No doubt the finest fighting machine within the Western inventory today, the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is hampered by only one real problem: cost! It therefore has met with relatively little export success and such belongs to a very elite club. The Eagle was conceived as a result of a two-year study including two six-month studies by industry, to find a fighter replacement for the Douglas F-4 Phantom in the counter-air threat role. The concept called for an aircraft that was capable of meeting the 'Beyond Visual Range' (BVR) intercept as well as having the ability to counter the close-air threat. Arising from this study came the 'F-X fighter' which ultimately became the F-15 Eagle that we know and respect so well today.

New York: The Viking Pres, 1929. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 0x0x0. First edition. No jacket. Ink name on front endpaper. 1929 Hard Cover. 286 pp. Inanimate objects take life and animals speak in T. F. Powys's collection of fables, which was first published in 1929: a dish-cloth and an old pan, lying on a rubbish heap, discuss the emotional intricacies of the household that has discarded them; the efforts of a determined spinster to marry off all her furniture end in tragedy; a rabbit takes advice from a viper to avenge the death of her son. Set in the Dorset countryside that also inspired Powys's novels, these are tales of morality, original and surprising, as all good fables should be.

Edge wear with minor loss along top edge, ink name on frontispiece, minor ink marks throughout. Unpaginated. French text. Front cover depicts a fox and a stork drinking at a table. 4 color plates. The Selected Fables, put into verse by M. de La Fontaine, simply called Fables de La Fontaine, are three collections bringing together two hundred and forty-three allegorical fables published by Jean de La Fontaine between 1668 and 1694 . Most, inspired by the fables of Aesop, Babrius and Phaedrus, feature anthropomorphic animals and contain an explicit (presented at the beginning or end of the poem) or implicit moral. The author invents a genre breaking with the Aesopic, evangelical and humanist traditions, where the style and spirit more than the subject are intended to be didactic. A model of classical French, these apologues were used from the beginning of the 18th century as a teaching aid by…
