Cairo: Chemical Society of Egypt, 1958. First Edition. Wraps. Good. First Edition. [6], 164 pages. Original green wrappers. Small spine panel "flap" loose. Corners turned, light fading to covers. Wraps. We offer the first issue of this Journal, which was published twice a year in 1958-59, continued in 1960 as "Journal of chemistry of the U.A.R.", and quarterly from 1961-1969 as "Journal of chemistry of the United Arab Republic." It continued from 1970-71 bimonthly (every 2 months) as "United Arab Republic journal of chemistry" and finally as the "Egyptian journal of chemistry" from 1972 until the present. It is worthwhile bibliographically to note that in this first issue the terminologies are laid out for names, abbreviations, and guidelines for how to submit material. Perhaps most interesting for collectors is a note that each author is "entitled to 20 reprints, without covers, free of charge. Additional reprints may be purchased, and must be ordered as soon as the paper has been accepted for… Read More

Description:
Fall River, Massachusetts: E. J. Perry Machinery Corp, 1950. Very Good. A group of eight industrial photographs in 8 x 10 and 10 x 8 formats. Blank on verso. Minor blemishes, nice condition. E. J. Perry Machinery Corporation was an industrial processing machinery manufacturer. Six of the eight photographs have visible plates from the company on the equipment - the other two fit based on type (many of these appear to be industrial drying equipment). A nice set of images of a Fall River, Massachusetts company. According to the April 23, 1945 issue of "Steel, the Magazine of Metalworking and Metal Producing" the company moved from New Bedford to Fall River. One of the images has the Fall River address on it, hence we've dated these images to circa 1950. The 1936 New Bedford directory shows a number of machinists in the company employ.

Well read worn copy with creasing and wear including minor loss to spine panel. Marked "Examination Copy with the compliments of J. W. Edwards, PUBLISHER, Ann Arbor Michigan" on the cover. Lithoprinted at Edwards Brothers Inc. Wraps. The author Alva W. Smith was in the Department of Physics at Ohio State University during an interesting period of time for electrical engineering and related disciplines. In 1948 the transistor was invented, which changed electronics forever. This is a great example of what was being taught in a University Environment at that time. The manual is organized as a laboratory experiment instructor, with a section on reports and how they should be written, followed by the 36 experiments. Good form for engineers is suggested - put your results in a permanently bound record, not loose pages. Cross out errors, don't erase… Read More
