Description:
St. Louis, Missouri (USA): Milliken Publishing Company, 1960. Staplebound Pamphlet. Very Good. Wonderful Staplebound pamphlet (8 1/2" x 5 1/2"), published just this side of JFK, probably provided to local utilities in order to mass-promote their message: "Live Better...Electrically". Fabulous period artwork to both front and rear covers. Front depicts an aproned and bejeweled, svelte and shapely, blonde, a wooden spoon absentmindedly cocked in her right hand, with her braceleted wrist relaxes in her left pocket. In front of her is a bowl of dip surrounded by canapes, and in the background, behind the lovely modern electric stove, are two smiling carefree women and one man bathed in shimmering light (electric, of course!). On the rear cover is the man of the house, in front of his double electric oven (and through the glass panel of the top oven, one can see a roast or ham. He is making ice cream sundaes, flanked by his electric dishwasher on the left, and his electric blender on the right. He too is… Read More

Description:
Boston: Edes & Gill, in Queen-Street; and T. & J. Fleet at the Heart and Crown, in Cornhill, 1770. Pamphlet. Good. Scarce, pre-American Revolutionary pamphlet- and, by just a few days, Pre-Boston Massacre, this publication, at its face, was merely a useful almanac, but in actuality, an organ characterized by seething sentiment and fervent rage and calls for solidarity against the indignities of a large British occupying troops, which not only were forced by the Quartering Act of 1765 to house the occupying soldiers in public houses but which forced the colonials to assume the cost of this. This one lacking the famous (but often missing) frontis etching attributed to Paul Revere. Only seven actual copies located in libraries worldwide. 12mo. Original self-wrappers. 29 leaves (of 30). Unrestored and unsophisticated. Printed ("upon paper manufactured in this country") and sold by Edes & Gill, in Queen-Street; and T. & J. Fleet at the Heart and Crown, in Cornhill, 1770. Santa Fe, New Mexico: Vinegar Tom Press, 1991. Numbered, Limited Edition (20/125). Stitched Pamphlet. Very Good Plus. Octavo. White handsewn wrappers (8 1/2 in. x 6 1/2 in.) with black lettering to front panel. Number 2 of a limited printing of 125. After being asked "..."did the Mormon colonization contribute to a better West or a worse West?", Abbey answered: "I'd feel pretty silly trying to rewrite history. All these things have already happened. It's foolish to regret this or deplore that. It happened. If all the Indians were as smart as I am, they would have forbidden all immigration from Europe from the very beginning. I think we still have some control over our future. By reason and common sense and some charity towards one another we can still make this a better country instead of a worse one. If we so choose, if enough of us feel strongly enough about it..." Description:
Boston, Mass, 1756. Pamphlet. Good. Samuel Cooper, pastor of the Brattle Street Church. though fully aware of political issues through his brother William, was known for his assiduous refusal to use his church pulpit for political convictions, such that people wondered if he had any political opinions at all, since he stayed with sermons based on the bible. That said, if one were to read "through" Cooper's diction and choice of words, one might have just cause to suspect Cooper's of drawing parallels to political figures of the day, which lay behind Cooper's strictly biblical exegetical sermons. His church was an extremely popular one, for many of the wealthy merchants attended regularly. Among his parishioners were several members of the Long Room Club, including John Adams, Samuel Adams, and John Hanbcock, with whom Cooper enjoyed a personal friendship.
