SENDAK, Maurice. Elephant and Cow Original Drawing. Original pencil drawing on tracing paper of an elephant and a cow. The image covers nearly all of the 10.5" x 6" sheet. Signed by the artist, Caldecott Medalist Maurice Sendak, in pencil.
An original pencil drawing by the Caldecott Medalist Maurice Sendak of an elephant and a cow. Most likely done as a study for a more elaborate drawing, Sendak's typical humor shines through in this image as he has drawn the elephant casting a dubious glance back at the cow, who glares back at something off the page. A comic piece of original Sendak artwork!

REY, H[ans] A[ugustus]. Explore with Books Poster. A 22.5" x 6" poster (ca. 1950) by the creator of Curious George. Upper corners showing two small pin holes, crease where folded in half (as originally distributed), verso of poster slightly discolored with evidence of tape removal at corners, "Explore with books" (the poster's title) handwritten in ink on verso, else a bright copy. Rare.
A poster created by artist H.A. Rey to celebrate the joy of reading. Featuring a dachshund reminiscent of the titular character from the picture book Pretzel [1944], the image shows a variety of books strewn over the back of the dog. The books have titles which include: "How to Dig a Hole," "All About Bunnies," "Birds, Bees and Flowers," and one titled "Treasure Troves" with an image of a trash can on the cover. A delightfully funny poster – most likely created for one of the Children's Book Council's many reading campaigns – by the artist who created Curious George in surprisingly clean, bright condition.
