A tribute volume to the Society's recently deceased Secretary and Treasurer, Leonard Norris, who would not be lauded today for such views as: "the North American Indians of Canada are a superior people. Too often they are classed by ignorant people with such races as the Japanese, Chinese, Negros and Hindus. These are inferior races . . ." (page 71)..

A VG+ or better copy in original gilt lettered and decorated black cloth, hinges and binding firm and tight, no tears, no stains, overall a lovely bright, unworn copy. A volume in the "Cassell's Shilling Novels" series, which are usually found with cracked hinges, however this copy does not have any cracking or splitting at the hinges. In a VG+ dustjacket which has a few short edge tears but no paper missing. The jacket's colour front panel illustration by Philip Simmonds shows a startled woman reading a mysterious note, the text of which is illustrated next to her (looks nice under a clear mylar protective cover). Printed price of "1/- net" (one shilling) on the jacket spine. A scarce book in a devilishly scarce dustjacket -- and both book and jacket are in even scarcer, superior, condition.. The dustjacket is Fair to Good only, with wear to edges, 3 inch x 1 inch piece missing from head of spine and surrounding area, and 1 inch piece missing from heel of spine. This jacket is very scarce. The Canadian first was published simultaneously with the Frederick A. Stokes edition in the United States; this second printing has the colour frontispiece. .
