England's Top Models (vintage pinup digest magazine, 1950s)

Burnett, Lorraine, and Paula Page, Rosina Revelle (featuring)

  • Book condition: Very Good
  • Quantity available: 1
Sheba Pub. Co., 1950s. Very Good. Vintage nude pinup digest magazine featuring Lorraine Burnette, Paula Page, Rosina Revelle, & another, posing & emphasizing natural assets, all buxom British models. Many of these models were popular during the heyday of men's magazine production, most posed for British photographer Harrison Marks. Burnette & Page also starred in independent erotic films (nudie loops), Rosina Revelle unsung but immensely popular. Hundreds of similar digest magazines were produced by fly-by-night operations, mainly around New York, notably Burmel Publishing (Lenny Burtman's enterprise). Many were published as photography and/or art "studies" booklets, w/ technical camera data, exposure chart, & the standard emphasis on sexual liberation; early issues featured several models per issue & many maintain airbrushing techniques rolled over from nudist magazines, much of the posing naturally obscures otherwise censored areas. Still scarce institutionally. 32pp, 5.25 x 8.25 inches, B/W throughout ... Read more

Benedikt Taschen, 1995. Very Good. First Edition, spiral-bound octavo in original plastic boards, b/w/color photography every other page, unpaginated. Inscribed by Kroll to fellow eroticist, Andrew J. Offutt, in holograph ink on the title page: "Turk - you have a good mind - Eric Kroll - 5/4/96." From Offutt's estate. Offutt was an avid science fiction author noted for his "Conan"-theme fantasy works, and wrote 100s of erotic novels under pseudonyms like John Cleve, Turk Winter, John Denis, and Opal Andrews; Winter was a name attached to his more violent novels, including the "Blunder Broad" comics series he produced with Eric Stanton. Kroll's formidable fetish photography in this 52-week day planner echoes much of Offutt's fetish and bondage fiction, and pays clear tribute to the dark fantasies of publisher/artist Stanton, even John Willie, featuring in all cases women bound, sometimes gagged, shining in leather. Kroll pushed Stanton's sensationalist snapshot style to glossy, composed scenes, while Offutt ... Read more

N.p., 1980s. Fine. Two original snapshot photographs of fetish artist Eric Stanton, in a Polaroid sitting at his draft table holding original art, with "The Dart Broad" in Stanton's ink (presumed) just below the image frame, and another photo posing at an art or comics convention with his wife Britt, who wears shiny knee-high boots and black spandex, akin to his illustrated dominatrixes, and who posed for Stanton's 1970s femme fetish photography. Scarce color images of Stanton that provide a clean glimpse of a "dirty" icon. From the estate of Andrew J. Offutt, noted science-fiction, fantasy, and underground erotica writer, but presumably not printed by him. Stanton and Offutt were not only colleagues who collaborated on 100s of original works of erotic art and literature, notably "Stantoons" and "Blunder Broad" digests, they were close friends who regularly corresponded through letters, photographs, story and art proofs. These photographs were likely sent by Stanton to Offutt, or perhaps taken by Offutt as ... Read more

Taschen, 1996. Very Good. Amuse-Guele, 32mo softcover, 3 x 3.75 inches, 66pp, perfect-bound, French flaps. First Edition, paperback original, reprinting cropped images of Stanton's erotic comic art, personal photographs, and sequences from original art proofs, limited promotional edition, advertising the hardcover edition edited by Eric Kroll, "The Art of Stanton: For the Man Who Knows His Place" (Spring 1997). Offutt's copy, briefly inscribed to him by Stanton on the title page in holograph ink: "An old brokendown book for an old broken write[r] / Toik Winter / from a young grandguy / Eric Stanton / first book I got / #100." Stanton and Offutt were not only colleagues who collaborated on 100s of original works of erotic art and literature, notably "Stantoons" and "Blunder Broad" digests, they were close friends who regularly corresponded through letters, photographs, story and art proofs. N.p., 1970s. Good. 42 original b/w photographs of fetish artist and publisher Eric Stanton, posing in several with his wife Britt, who wears black wig, corset, high boots, and garter belts, and together with with their pleasure-bound "captive," a woman in a blonde "Sweet Gwendoline" wig, white bra and garter belt, nylons and heels. Stanton and his wife take turns spanking the woman (who was actually a 21 year-old neighbor), or whipping her with a riding crop, happy in general at her dismay. Classy plush furniture and fixtures lighten the mood. Published by Stanton in his "Stantoons" erotic comics digest(#67, a copy is included), and these photos presumably printed for loyal clients of his publishing services, or even likelier, for personal enjoyment. His wife Britt seems every bit the role of Stanton's greatest femmes, and the session here recalls the work of fetish precedent John Willie, whose illustrations of bound women ushered a new underground of erotic art. From the estate of Andrew J. Offutt, noted ... Read more
