The pages are yellowing, but are clear of any markings. "In undertaking the arduous process of a systematic survey of Research usiian literature from the eighteenth century day, the author was aware that his work would be the first of its kind in Every nglish, since previous publications on this subjective China, though not without points of indisputable merit, were either incomplete or confined to only a part of the field. The latter is particularly true of books dealing with modern Russian literature and, above all, with Soviet literature, which is often taken out of the larger context and treated as a separate unit, even though it ought to be generally known by now that it was born in a void but is strongly rooted in powerful traditions...." - Foreword from The Epic of Russian Literature: From Its Origins… Read More

Description:
This book is in new condition. It does not come with a dust jacket. Signed by the author, Reverend David L. Veal."In 1870 when the American leather industry developed processes that made buffalo hides valuable, men armed with the fifty caliber Sharps rifle moved onto the plains to begin systematic killing of the herds. By 1873 the hide hunters had shifted their field of operations from Colorado and Kansas to the Texas plains. Soldiers and ranchers did little to prevent, or actively encouraged, the destruction of the Comanche food supply. The tribes comprehended too late the coming disaster. They assembled their forces under Quanah Parker and the messianic figure Eshatai for a last effort to drive back the white man. They put their faith in the magic power of the spirit world which they believed would make Commanche warriors immune to the white man's bullets." Each will be concerned with ways to respond to new developments and concerns in the lif of the Church. The General Convention will hold its triennial meeting in Detroit, Michigan, July 2-11. (When will we do the sensible thing and meet more frequently, for a shorter time?). With the renewed sense and broader vision of mission now increasingly evident throughout the American Church, and the enthusiasm resulting from the growing practice of total shared ministry, the potential will be there for a very significant… Read More

I first became aware of this project of Katharine Waring in 1990, while working on a history of St. Mark's, Coleman. There was a definite need for such a work. In my own research, I had used the works of Claude A. Beesley, the Rev. Dr. Lawrence L. Brown, the Rev. DuBose Murphy and even my own Vicar, the Rev.
