Frontispiece with tissue guard, etching on title page. 281 pp., plus [16 ] pages of ads of books published by David Douglas. Michael Scot, (1175-1232) was a Scottish mathematician and scholar, educated at Oxford in Paris. He served as science advisor and court astrologer to Fredrick II of the Holy Roman Empire. His manuscripts dealt with astrology, alchemy, chiromancy and the occult sciences. He appears as a character in Dante Divine Comedy. As of February 2024, there on no copies in the trade in the United States.

Essay about famous abolitionist and Unitarian minister, William Ellery Channing. This essay was written after Channing's death. Foxing on cover and some pages, back cover and last few pages have creases, top inch of wrap is coming from spine. 40 pp.

London: Rodwell and Martin, 1817. First Thus. Boards. Good.. Water stained green boards with cream colored 1/4 boards, front and back cover along spine are 1 1/2 inch closed tears. There is water damage to cover and to preliminary pages, page edges are wavy. The cover appears to have been pasted to the free endpapers. In the front is a fold out picture of ancient Greeks. 188 pp. This is the English translation of the French version printed in 1816.
