A Ping Pong ball made in limited quantities for the 14th iteration of the world's largest hacking festival. This example was won by the preivous owner for winning a contest at the convention. Fine.

San Francisco, 1985. three leaves, photo-mechanically reproduced on rectos only and stapled once at the upper left hand corner. Anonymous zine out of the Bay Area mid-1980's milieu written by an anonymous writer who describes herself as a female "from a Catholic family of 15." Attacks misconceptions about AIDS, abortion, use of condoms, and the iconography of the American flag. Fine.

France: Sordide Sentimental, 1992. First edition. Catalog No. SS MCD 004. Mini CD in card folder, tipped into a large folding color poster also housing a leaflet with release info. One of a limited numbered edition of 1000 copies, this being copy no. 73. CD is NM. Card slip shows some soiling (as issued?). Poster and leaflet near fine. The original plastic bag still has the label sticker in gold affixed, and is very good with some creasing and cloudiness.

London: The Galley Press, 1962. First edition. 8vo, 204 pp, bound in yellow cloth titled in gilt. Housed in the original dust jacket illustrated by the author. The scarce first edition of this roman a clef describing postwar life in the St. Ives artist commune after the war, a period in which "'some of us seemed to be caught in the slip-stream of evil forces which often follow destruction." The book was withdrawn shortly after publication due to four libel suits which followed, which didn't end up in court but did effectly shut down the publication of the book, which in 2009 became the basis of the 2009 Tate show of the same name. The book is a sequel of sorts to his earlier, superb novel I Am Lazarus - on of the great memoirs of the last century of war. A near fine example, with some light foxing to upper edge of text block and boards, and the previous ownership signature of Margaret Aldiss to first blank. Flyer for this series of 10 film screenings at Im Kino Arsenal. The films included Charles Burnett's Killer of Sheep, a film on the Young Lords, Barbara Kopple's "Harlan County USA," Sandra Hochman's "Year of the Woman," Bibermann's 'Salt of the Earth,' etc. Minor toning and a couple of creasing to extremities else fine.

Moers: Editions Aragon Verlag Willi Klauke, 1985. Second printing. 8vo, 130 pp, illustrated wraps. Illustrated with tables, diagrams, and a single photograph. Text in German. Early Hacker guide oriented towards beginners, the dedicated to Jerry Rubin, which begins by printing Cheshire Catalyst's Hacker Hymn (which first appeared in T.A.P.). Includes material on the social ethics of hacking as well as nuts and bolts information on DATEX-P numbers, directories, hardware, etc. Bouteiller was also the co-author of a FORTH programming language guide. Spine cocked, with a small closed tear at foot of spine, light page toning within. Very good.

Basel: Benno Schwabe, 1922. First edition. 8vo, 88 pages, printed wraps. Illustrated with 44 photographs and drawings on 16 plates. Text in German. First edition of this important early standalone survey on the history of tattooing worldwide. Many of the illustrations are taken from earlier works, such as Joest, but there are also a number of intriguing photographs early modern tattoos taken from the author's collection, as well as institutional archives. Crease to spine, with minor rubbing to extremities and a touch of toning. Very good.

A 20 part poem, and early work by the New Zealand poet and later, frequent collaborator with the filmmaker Peter Weir. Davies co-wrote The Cars that Ate Paris! A faint indent to cover else fine.

Toronto: Shuffaloff / Eternal Network Joint, 2014. First edition. 8vo, saddle-stapled wraps. One of a limited edition of only 99 copies. Incredibly posthumously published chapbook by one of the best. some minor rubbing to wraps else fine.

New York: Computer People for Peace, 1970. 8 1/2 x 11" leaflet, printed from typescript, with a printed facsimile signature in blue ink from Julie Millstein. Pencilled date of 12/8/70 at lower margin. A circular issued by the group soliting membership after three years in existence, signed in print by the CPP Corresponding Secretary, Julie Millstein. The letter outlines the aims and accomplishments of the group in the previous three years, including their participation at the Spring Joint Computer Conference and ACM '70. The letter notes that the group is currently investigation surveillance and privacy issues, and "raising bail for Clark Squire, a programmer who is one of the Black Panthers currently on trial in New York City for conspiracy. Squire, later known as Sundiata Acoli, had been a computer analyst at NASA before the assassination of MLK led him to join the Black Panther Party. Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, 1922. 32mo, saddle-stapled in lightwraps printed in black. Gibbs 122b, second noted variation in the LBB(2) binding, with copyright date still present. The transcript of a debate held in 1919 in London by the Rationalist Press Association, which Conan Doyle had once been a member of. McCabe was the former Catholic priest turned freethought philosopher who was one of the central writers in the Haldeman-Julius camp. Very good with the usual toning, and fading to the extremities of the wraps, which have a little fraying at margins.

Venice: Second Situationist International, 1968. 8 5/8 x 12" leaflet, printed in black on orange paper stock. Illustrated with a photograph. Leaflet issued by the Second Situationist International on the occasion of the 1968 Venice Biennale, proposing, in conjunction with the World Anarchist Council, the occupation of the Swedish pavilion in order to turn it into a Trojan Horse, a "pavillon of revolt," and soliciting the collaboration of the Italian pavilion. The leaflet outlines further steps to be taken against the art world, including abandoning the art academies and the erection of art barricades. This last step was in homage to Gustave Courbet and his two most radical actions; the erection of a separate pavilion outside of the Paris world exhibition, and, infamously, his detonation of the Vendome Pillar in 1871. Folded three times, with some additional faint creasing, but bright and very good.

Willamantic, CT: De-Evolutionary Times, 1981. 4to, [25] pp, photo-mechanically reproduced. Side-stapled. A remarkable early 80's connection between the poetry and post-punk zine scenes, this little known post punk fanzine edited by the poets George Butterick, and Ed Kaplan. A fascinating zine, dense and text heavy with no illustrations other than the front and back covers. As well as ton of record reviews, this issue also features in depth interview wtih the Buzzcocks and Athletico Spizz. Staples a bit oxidized, back cover with a long vertical tear separating it from the lower two staples, but still holding to upper staple. Good only, but scarce - we didn't know that this zine even existed until ten minutes ago. OCLC locates holding at only two institutions.

New York: Willard Gallery, 1941. 8vo, single sheet folded once, with a photographic reproduction tipped onto cover, and an additional, smaller plate tipped-in within. With a foreward by the artist. An early catalog from Marian Williard's groundbreaking gallery in its second iteration, when it was located next to Curt Valentin's Bucholz Gallery on 57th St. The exhibition was devoted to Manuel Essman's Design Assemblies, sculptures that are "tectonic, built, constructed, assembled and formed as is a machine, a house or a stage set," and includes a checklist as well as the two reproductions. Fine./.

Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, 1929. 32mo, saddle-stapled wraps. Gibbs 1405, first noted printing, in the first wrapper state. De Sade's text, written while he was incarcerated at Chateau de Vincennes, and here translated into English by the author of Paris Was Our Mistress. The translation first appeared in the U.S. under the Covic imprint two years prior, in an overwrought binding... this pocket edition that followed two years later is superb, a little Sade in the pocket. Wraps rather faded and rubbed at extremities, with the name of the prior owner written in ink at title page, else very good.

Wien: Pakesch & Schlebrügge, 2004. First edition. 8vo, saddle-stapled card wraps. Fama & Fortune was an artists' periodical / artists' book series published in Wien by Peter Pakesch and Johannes Von Schlebrügge. Each issue invites an artist or artists to create and design the issue, in this case Claudia & Julia Müller. Touch of rubbing to tips else fine.

Warrington, PA: Die, Evan Dando, Die Magazine, 1994. 8vo, saddle-stapled wraps. With a prospectus for the zine laid in. One of about 200 copies printed. . A rare first printing, mailed to a fellow fanzine editor, of one of the 90's zines that brought mainstream attention to the zine scene - for better or worse. Die, Evan Dando, Die was the brainchild of Jeff Fox, who had made the great parody zine Maximum Rock n' Raoul. As covered in Entertainment Weekly and other mainstream venues, Fox made only 200 copies of the zine initially, but after a deluge of fan mail and death threats and coverage in all sorts of magazines he made another 800 copies and distributed them nationally, at Tower Records and other venues. A fascinating artifact on mainstream media, the zine scene, and celebrity culture. The first edition of the first volume of the Chaos Computer Club's landmark hacking compendium - one of the most important of the early hacker books. A second volume, in a somewhat different format, was published three years later. Since its formation in 1981, the CCC has become the largest hacking organization in Europe and a a prominent force defending human rights in the digital age. The Bible is a hefty compendium of newsclippings and articles, alongside reproductions of the CCC's newsletter, Datenschleuder, as well as other hacking zines such as YIPL and Hackerpost. Very good with some light toning and a touch of rubbing to margins.

Frankfurt Am Main und Paris: Qumran, 1980. First edition. 13 cards, photographically illustrated on beige card stock, with a booklet [8 pp. incl. covers], housed in a heavy black cardboard box photographically illustrated at upper panel. First edition of theis obscure, beautiful documentation of the work of the graffiti and mural artist Papisto Boy, aka Pape Samb. Papisto Boy's work are channeled works in the Sufi tradition of the Mouride Way, inspired by Sheikh Amadu Bamba. The figures of Bob Marley, Lamp Fall, Jimi Hendrix, all feature prominently in Papisto Boy's work. His largest mural was a 600 foot long piece along a factory wall in Belaire, which Papisto Boy frequently repainted as a shifting palimpsest of portraits and graffiti, even as the factory owner threatened to efface the works. Papisto was a prominent figure in the Set-Setal movement in the 1980's. In 2002 the fishing village in Dakar in which Papisto lived was razed, and he died in 2014 in the rural village he was born. Döring to title page, and on the fep a full page inscription to him from his uncle, with reference to Schopenhauer. On the title page a quote from Benjamin is written in red ink in a different, unknown hand. The Benjamin passage written on the title page is from his letter to Carla Seligsohn on September 15, 1913. Boards faded at extremities, with a bump to upper tip of front board. Very good.
