Buddhist monk depicted in both Japanese and Chinese art. Daruma in Chinese legend brought Buddhism to China.Research remains to be done to determine the identity of the artist and the date of the art work itself. The text on the back of the scroll at the top is in Japanese. One translation of this text provided to me is that the owner's name (Takae Masae) and the date of purchase (1907) are described.
