Houston: Author, October 1932. First Edition. Paperback. VERY GOOD. 86pp., printed white self wraps, stapled. Upper wrap with creases, spine age-toned. Author was assisted by Harriet Smither, archivist, Texas State Library While attempting to join Texas forces on Salado Creek near San Antonio, Capt. Nicholas Dawson and his men were shot or captured by a Mexican cavalry on Sept. 18th, 1842. The victims were later buried with casualties from the Mier expedition.There are entries from various sources, where ever the compiler found them and including many first hand accounts of participants at the time including the ten who were able to travel that were included with the Perote prisoners. This is the first attempt to give details of these Fayette County men and the battle at Salado Creek.

Goliad: Linotype-Power Print, 1988. Third Edition. Softcover. FINE. 36(1)pp., pink pictorial printed wraps with some fade. Staple-bound. Original published in 1912. Reproduction was made by the J. A. White Family. This journal was first published in 1883 in Goliad, Tx newspaper. Dr. Joseph Henry Barnard came to Texas in 1835, and enlisted in the revolutionary army as a private with the Red Rovers. While surgeon to James W. Fannin, Jr.'s command, he was captured at Goliad, but his life was spared so that he might treat the wounded Mexicans at Goliad and San Antonio. In San Antonio he lived with José Ángel Navarro. Barnard's diary is one of the best sources of information covering this period.

Large double page center fold. With The Battle of Galveston, Magruder had retaken Galveston with a loss of twenty-six killed and 117 wounded. Union losses included the captured infantry and the Harriet Lane, about 150 casualties on the naval ships, as well as the destruction of the Westfield.
