Inscribed "For ---- / WHO THANKFULLY ARRIVED EARLY / November 2003..." and with a ink and penciled sketch on two pages. Laid in is an invitation for drinks at the Fonseca Studio in New York City on Tuesday, November 18, 2003. Then envelope is addressed simply "By HAND" and appears to be in the hand of Fonseca. Also laid in is a Caio Fonseca studio book mark. The book, invitation, and book mark are all in Fine condition. The dust jacket remains bright and very clean, though shows a small amount of very light creasing along the upper edge mostly over spine and some over bottom board. Engraved portrait of the author as frontispiece, followed by red and black printed title page; viii; 163 pages, one page of ads. Paper covered boards are detached. Moderate foxing on frontispiece and a little foxing throughout.

Library presentation plate on the front paste down (in the sky of the illustration), with the recipient's name marked out. Corners are lightly bumped. Volume appears to have drawn some moisture as there is a little very slight darkening along the upper edges, as well as some light wrinkles seen at the lower bound edges of some leaves. Volume remains tight and is generally very clean.. Signed by the Author. First Edition. Cloth - Hard Cover. Good/No Dust Jacket. 4to.

One of 100 copies on white all-rag paper bound in tan linen with paper label. Corners are very slightly bumped. A little light foxing is seen along the upper edge of the text block. Light wear is seen at the upper outside corner of the blank front free end leaf where are booksellers' penciled notations were removed. Volume is otherwise Fine. Dust jacket is very slightly soiled along edges and shows some small handling wrinkles. There are a couple of small and light stains seen on the inside flap of the jacket. Dust jacket is now in a clear Brodart protective sleeve. . Cloth - Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.

End leaves are a little darkened along the edges and at hinge. There are a couple of very slight spots of discoloration on the cloth covers, possibly being foxing? Volume remains tight and is otherwise clean and intact. Dust jacket is a little darkened along edges. There is scattered chipping and wear on edges, and a one inch closed tear over top cover near crown. Some moisture staining is seen on the jacket over spine near the heel. Dust jacket is now in a clear Brodart protective sleeve. . Signed by the Author. First Edition. Cloth - Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. Illus. by Tom Lea. sm folio.
