Description:
Phaidon London, 1995 Fabulous large format first printing of the world first edition hardback, in a protected jacket. Marvellous illustrations. This book inspires anyone with an eye to see. It brings out the property lust too! Only one tiny fault stops this from being 'As New', and that is a tasteful and very discrete blind stamp on the front end paper and the spine of the jacket is slightly sunned. A standard reference for all who appreciate great architects, this is one of Phaidon's most cherishible issues. A large and heavy book, as befits this fascinating creative genius. Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng. 1st Edition.. Hardcover. Fine/Fine.

Description:
Royal Academy Enterprises, 2017 A simply gorgeous catalogue raisonne from the Royal Academy London. Comprehensive and masterly. A farmer's son from Cheshire, British artist Charles Frederick Tunnicliffe (1901-79) won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art in 1920. He went on to work in numerous mediums, his favored subject matter being Britain's native birds and other fauna, always depicted punctiliously and yet, unusually for the time, in their natural habitats. Renowned as the illustrator of the 1932 edition of Henry Williamson's Tarka the Otter and numerous Brooke Bond tea cards (popular collector's items in Britain in the postwar period), Tunnicliffe lived on the Welsh island of Anglesey for more than 30 years. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1954. This handsome catalogue raisonne of his prints, over 430 in number, includes lavish illustrations and authoritative annotations by the printmaking authorities Robert Meyrick and Harry Heuser. This is a NEW & UNREAD first…

Description:
A group of passengers on a cruise ship challenge the world chess champion to a match. At first, they crumble, until they are helped by whispered advice from a stranger in the crowd - a man who will risk everything to win. Stefan Zweig's acclaimed novella Chess is a disturbing, intensely dramatic depiction of obsession and the price of genius. This painting is based upon this wonderful novel. Kettle's work has been exhibited regularly in London's Royal Academy. His paintings are often sought after by writers and book collectors because of the literary nature of most of his work. An original framed painting on canvas. Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng. Hardcover. New.

Description:
George Harrap London First Edition. Full leather covers with tiny brass studded binding straps. Superbly illustrated by Evelyn Paul with decorative headpieces. The grained leather binding has an indented title and a small square device, also deeply indented, with what appears to be a deer leaping. Celtic-styled lithographic endpapers front and back. The text block is on heavy rag hand made paper, which is left with nicely ragged leading edge and base. The top of the text block is trimmed and brightly gilded. The text pages are lavishly decorated with silver and gold titling. The text has two colour letterpress printing. Soft-ish corners, but this is probably caused by the leather binding. A little self consciously medieval perhaps but utterly attractive and enchanting. Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng. 1st Edition.. Hardcover. Description:
Enitharmon Press ENGLAND, 2011 Geoffrey Hill's Clavics was published as an installment of Daybooks. Hill's subject matter is often hard to disentangle, but that's my fault; it is not his. I have rarely found him as approachable as other poets, but then up pops an instance where something stirs under the density and change happens. His poems can be allusive, dissonant, and yet playful as Finnegans Wake. Many poets deploy surface difficulty (Guy Davenport called it false density ) to mask essential emptiness; but when Hill is difficult it is because he has something to say that cannot be said glibly. He rewards attentive readers. This fabulous and perfect signed limited edition is number 49 of ONLY 100 copies. It is signed by the author on the half-title. There is a splendid photographic illustration inset to the front cover, and two other illustrations from historical sources within the book. Beautifully cloth bound, in a matching, slipcase, it is emphatically signed by the Author and now…
