Kansas City: Fred Harvey, 1904. Second edition. Wraps. Good +. Oblong album in red wraps. 10 1/4 x 13 1/2". String tied. 32 unnumberd pages. Centerfold of Grand Canyon. Introduction by Fitz Mac. Photos in sepia tones of scenes along the route of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe railroad. The covers are partially separated and have some wear and the interior has occasional spots of foxing. The images are still sharp and relatively clean. Fred Harvey promoted tourism by RR in the Southwest and had restaurants, souvenir shops and hotels along the route. The images are sometimes several on one page and some full page. they include Native Americans, scenery and train stations.

London: Limited Edition Club, 1931. First edition thus. Cloth. Near Fine. Arthur Rackham. 4to. 11 1/2 x 8". [xxxlll],130 pgs. Brown cloth with illustration with gilt highlight on cover. Top edge gilted. In original illustrated slipcase. Illustrated endpapers. Near fine with a bit of darkening to the spine and some wear to the edges of the slipcase. Gilt lettering on spine still bright. #1027 of 1500 copies. Illustrated by Arthur Rackham and signed by him in the colophon. Designed and printed by George W. Jones at "The Sign of the Dolphin" near Dr. Johnson's House in Gough Square, London. Full page illustrations and headings and tailpieces by Rackham in B&W line. The 25 page introduction by Edward Wagenknecht includes a transcription of a letter by Dickens concerning his plan for the story. The Chimes was one of Dickens 5 Christmas books. It concerns the poor and their need to have faith in themselves. The illustrations are delightful and the book is printed on a nice vellum like paper.

Text is from the last revised edition of 1676 with modernized spelling. A delightful illustrated edition of this classic book.
