Using centuries old tribal tactics, Butte Creeks, the Mountain Maidu tribelets' warriors, resisted settlers' seizures of their territories. Description: Features 303 color illustrations. In the one hundred and twenty year period between 1850 and 1970, California has been the home to a large number of extremely talented and versatile watercolor artists. While some became nationally recognized, most were largely overlooked until recent years. Rather than discussing California watercolors on a strictly chorological basis, the first three chapters of this book are divided into three sections dealing with different stylistic approaches -- traditional and modern realism, the California style, and abstract and non-objective watercolors. In the fourth chapter are 555 biographies of artists who produced watercolors in California during this period. Whenever possible the details of the artist's lives and…

BINDING/CONDITION: dark navy cloth with bright gilt text and decoration; Very Good condition; the pricing pamphlet also Very Good.. 4to (about 11.25 inches tall) . An example of the labels: a page header giving pattern name (Cambridge Square) and labels for each individual piece: (3797/22 / 7 in. Salad Plate). This includes a separate insert, a stapled pamphlet giving pricing information. These prices are of course well out of date, but may still be helpful in establishing relative value. This pamphlet is dated 1983. When using this guide it important to note the page numbers referenced are those printed at center, near the top. The page numbers printed at bottom are quite erratic and are the page numbers from the original Cambridge catalogs. This was originally published in 1978.
