The title of the booklet refers to Chinese Tonkin Cane which has been treated with a Chinese "secret substance" and that Horrocks-Ibbotson called "Hexi-Super-Cane-Rods." The rod manufacturer claimed these new rods provided 25% greater tensile strength, more snap, sensitivity, no twisting, and longer life; in short a wonder rod: "A Chinese Secret that puts more thrills in Fishing."
