The dust jacket is very good minus, as there is some loss of color on the spine, back and fore edge. There are no significant rips or tears in the dust jacket and it is in a clear Mylar protective cover. The interior is clean and bright with no writing or spotting detected. The book appears unread. The book includes a forward by Jimmy Skaggs, numerous black and white photographs and illustrations, and a 14-page bibliography.

The tan, paper covers of this booklet are in good condition although they are partially detached from the spine. The cover edges are worn and frayed with a couple of chips missing. There is a small library stamp on the front cover and inside of the back cover. A previous owners' name and a few numbers are written on the top of the front cover; the previous owners' name is also on the title page. The interior pages of this book are in very good condition. They are clean and bright, with no foxing detected. An advertisement for the Annals of The New York Academy of Sciences is tipped in the back. The booklet is protected in a clear, removable plastic sleeve with backing board.

David R. Godine. Boston. 1981. 142 pages. The green covers are in very good condition with no markings, only slight wear on the lower edges. The front cover has a beautiful stamped drawing in silver and dark green by Teresa Ellis; title and author in dark green tin spine. The binding is firm. The dust jacket is price-clipped, frayed with some loss at the top of spine, and faded in spots, especially the spine which is heavily sunned. The interior pages are in very good condition. There is no writing or spotting.

The cover condition issues are the top of spine is rolled with a small tear (1/2"), and some staining along the length of the leading edge of front cover. The title and author are in bright gold on the spine, the title debossed on the front cover. The covers retain much of their original color. The binding is very solid. The interior of the book is in very good condition. There is no writing or foxing detected; the pages are generally clean and bright, with a small smudge mark or crease detected on very few pages (less than 5). This is a nice copy of a relatively early printing of this book, which appear to be uncommon.

The dark covers are in good shape with title in gold on front and on spine. There is some fraying along edges. The spine is frayed and worn, especially along edge with front board. The binding is loose, with the front hinge starting to detach. All pages are bound, although the textblock is loose in spots. The front end papers are creased and soiled, and the first few pages are soiled in spots. Otherwise, the interior pages are generally clear and bright; most have no makings or foxing. The back endpaper has some writing in pencil. The book contains 384 black and white figures, many of these are in very good condition and are interesting depictions of geological processes and ancient life.

There is moderate fraying around all edges and large creasing, especially on the back cover. There are two small stamps and some writing on the front cover. The binding is intact. The interior of this book is in good plus condition. There is no writing detected. The pages are generally clean, with some minor creasing at the corners or staining on the edges The book includes 10 appendices on various topics. Appendix H is a final draft of a Management Plan for the Appalachian Trail in Connecticut prepared by the Connecticut Appalachian Trail Management Advisory Committee. The final appendix includes a large, two-sided color map of the Appalachian Trail. The map is approximately 39" x 45" in size and in very good condition (there are 2 small stains on it); the map is folded and contained in a large envelope tipped inside the back cover.

The green covers are in very good plus condition, only very minor bumping on top and bottom of spine and corners. The spine includes the title, author, and publisher in gold. The dust jacket is generally in good condition; there are some small tears and fraying along the edges with a few small specks of color loss on the front and spine. The jacket is price-clipped; it is protected in a clear, archival removable cover. The binding is solid. The interior of this book is in very good plus condition. The pages are clean and bright; no writing, markings, or foxing detected. It may be unread. The book includes a frontis and 21 plates which are photographs taken by the author along with 4 graphs and 13 tables that include data on a variety of topics related to conifers.

Macmillan Co. 1928. 434 pages. The covers are dark green with gold lettering on front and spine. There is very minor scuffing on covers. Top edge of spine is moderately rubbed. The interior is very clean. The only writing appears on the front free endpaper and is a short inscription to the owner (dated Christmas, 1929). Otherwise the interior is bright, some very small spots on a couple of pages. It contains many half-page and full-page black and white photographs of trees. The binding is intact, but loose in some spots.
