HATFIELD BOOKS AND MEMORABILIA, a FIVE STAR SELLER presents "BY LAND & WATER, A Trip Personally Conducted by McLoughlin Bros., 623 Broadway, New York, the Pictures by R. [Richard} Andre, Copyrighted 1889." 10" x 12 ¼", 18 pages (first and last of which are pasted to the reverse covers), no dust jacket. Extremely scarce Victorian children's book with fanciful illustrations by well known British artist of the time, Richard Andre. McLoughlin Brothers hired as many as 75 artists for their factory and experimented with color reproduction. Each illustrated page contains a small poem. Half the illustrations are full color, and the other half shades of black, white, and tan. Overall condition = FAIR. Pages (heavy paper) are held to back cover by threads, front cover nearly separated, thin red binder tape present but no longer functioning.
