British Overseas Airways, 1950 A folder issued to passengers containing, 1. Double sided route map in colour, folded size 263x138mm, flat size 520x772mm printed in 1949. 2. Three postcards in colour of BOAC Hermes Speedbird. 3, Two open ended envelopes containg luggage labels. 4. Gate fold safety leaflet. 5. Broadsheet promoting the Festival of Britain events in towns and cities throughout the country in addition to the main exhibition venues, folded size 225x103mm, flat size 420x500mm. The highly decorative route map is in fine condition as are the rest of the items. For 'passenger reassurance' the safety leaflet states that all Speedbirds flying long distances over the sea, carry self inflating Dinghies sufficient to carry all passengers and crew. With each dinghie there is a small raft carrying provisions, first aid packs and a small but powerful radio transmitter.

London: Routledge A fresh bunch of old rhymes and tunes collected and arranged by L.C. A companion to the Baby's Opera. 56pp illustrated and decorated by Walter Crane and incorporating 37 tunes with words and music. A well used copy with the cover boards soiled and scuffed and the binding slack on the spine. A pretty little book, a pity about the condition.

Glasgow: David Bryce & Son, 1884 The progress of Mr Lanbkin in twenty four plates designed and etched by George Cruikshank. Undated but published in the shilling edition some forty years after the original. Rebacked and with some restoration to covers.

London, 1916 Whilst sporting events carried on during the war its influence can be seen with articles entitled Game Rearing in Wartime and Racing after the War. 438pp with much of interest especially early motoring. Casr bound in cloth with bevelled edges. Black and gilt art nouveau decoration.

London: Putnam, 1920 An examination of Bairnsfathers life todate in the form of a prosecution and defence. Alternative chapters written by the two authors. "In any true estimate of the genius of Bruce Bairnsfather, the Great War occupies a place equal to one percent. If every other sentence I write be forgotten and that remembered, I shall have done the Bairnsfather case a great service and contributed something towards dispelling the many amazing mythologies which have crowded round the name of "the man who made the Empire laugh." 236pp with black and white plates and drawings within the texts.

He spent his childhood in Romania, commuting to Sherborne School on the Orient Express. To avoid conscription into the coalmines, he volunteered to join the Blues as a trooper before being commissioned.
