Your Money - Your Life: Shut Down the Plants - Melt Down the Rates.
B.A.N.G. Brooklyn, New York. 8.5 x 14" yellow flyer with folding lines. Single sheet with only a few handwritten notes on the back. Members are worried about the coming winter with energy costs one of their main concerns. New Yorkers are trying to feed and heat themselves and their families. Milan: Rizzoli, 2009. First printing. Hardcover. Folio: over 12" - 15" tall. 181 pp. Two small indentations on dust jacket and a 1.0" scratch, else near fine. Dedicated to the long and fascinating annual journey that Loro Piana takes, between April and May, through the remote, pristine lands of Mongolia to buy cashmere and baby cashmere. For more than a decade, Loro Piana has established a special relationship with the shepherds of these lands who raise Hyrcus goats and their kids that provide this precious fiber. Through six fascinating chapters with photographs, the book covers the journey to the most remote areas of Mongolia, between the steppes and desert, to reach the cashmere and baby cashmere collection center, a traveling settlement dotted with the traditional Ger tents that serve as both showroom and storeroom for the fibers. In these magical, timeless settings, animals and humans have lived in harmony with the wild, rugged landscape for millennia. Loro Piana has… Read more

Description:
np: [1984]. The rare original poster for U.S. movie. 40 x 27 inches. Folds three times. Fold lines visible. Minute hole at vertex of first fold, else very good. This documentary by Greta Schiller takes a look at the hidden, repressed, and often times denied history of gay America in the days before the famous Stonewall riots, and once and for all break the gag order polite society had placed on the third sex. Released in 1985, it helped put a halt on the notion that homosexuality was a product of societal moral decay, a tactical assertion gay rights opponents would sometimes try to insinuate based on a supposed lack of overwhelming historical evidence to the contrary. This groundbreaking documentary offers an array of photographs, films, and songs that offer testimony to the presence of a thriving gay subculture. Not in OCLC.

Plymouth, UK: Shearsman Books, 1994. Stapled chap book, with cream jacket. Small red scratch on cover and sunning to spine, else very good. Contains three poems: 'On the Nature of the Iconic'; 'Transparent Itineraries 1991' and 'Transparent Itineraries 1992', all of which were later collected in the author's New Directions volume Breath's Burials (1995). Scarce. Gustaf Sobin was an American expatriate poet residing in Provence. By 1957 he had graduated from Brown University and had traveled worldwide, visiting Hemingway in Cuba. In 1962, perhaps seeking to emulate Hemingway's earlier example, he moved to France, meeting René Char in his first days in Paris, a poet whose work he greatly admired and whose poetry was to have a great influence on his own. It took Sobin some years before he was to find his poetic voice, and it was only in 1972 that he wrote what he considered to be his first poem. Some pamphlets of his work appeared in the 1970s, but… Read more
