PLEASE SEE PHOTOS. This is the 4 volume set released 1939 after the Deluxe signed set. This one has the signed bookplate of KROCH'S BOOKSTORE CHICAGO by Carl Sandburg. This is one of the finest collections available, matching set. Very little rubbing or wear.

Included with this set is the one-volume copy of The Prairie Years which is also handsigned by Carl Sandburg. It has some wear top of the spine area but makes a nice addition to complete it.

Easton Press Leather(black) and gold Edition, unsigned. I see no defects. 10 photos to prove it.

Clear DJ. Red cloth with silver, gold, and black lettering and decorations NO defects I can see. The slipcase has soiling, fading, splits on just about every edge, but holding together tightly.

the slipcase has sunned edges, still VG+. DJ has sun-faded spine, unreadable bottom 3rd. Book has a small line of sun fade on the very top/bottom edges, NF. Thick heavy book.

SOFTCOVERS 4TH PRINTING, VERY TIGHT,SQUARE AN CLEAN. THIS SET SHOULD BE GOING WITH A COPY OF DEATH IN THE FAMILY, BUT IF YOU WANT THEM HERE THEY ARE.

THIS FORMAT IS A 1ST PRINTING FULL NUMBER LINE WITH THE 1. LIGHT SHELF WEAR,MAYBE READ 2 TIMES,STILL VERY TIGHT,LIGHT STAINS ON END OF PAGES,SIGNED ABOVE HIS PRINTED NAME ON THE MAIN TITLE PAGE(NICE).

With the 1ssue point on page 419, 30,000 copies, but I discovered about 20 years ago there are different states within that error printing. It deals with the copyright date. I discovered there are 3 different states. 1921 regular, "flying 192 is higher than the 1, and 92 is higher with milled corners(i sold both of those and lost 1). This book has the "flying" 192 as seen in the photos. I have seen 4 copies so far of this error but I do not know how many were published or how rare, but it is a variant needed by all who collect this title. The book itself has no repairs done to keep it original, has a slight lean due to slight looseness. Color, etc is same as 1st issue(size as well). Rubbing to the edges, bumped bottom front corner, spine ends has wear minute tears and wear to the corners and bottom edge(slightly). See photos for the details, need more just ask.

SEE PHOTOS FOR DETAILS. Has all the 1st stste issue points, pg 419 red square Title page and matching 1921 dates. This one is a bit dirty on page ends and light foxing and finger smudges inside covers and a few pages. My cheapest 1st Ed of this title(I have a few) just search and find the one for you.. All have photos.

This is the earliest G&D issue because of its DJ is designed as the 1st issue Doubleday, except it has the announcement about the Pulitzer Prize. BOOK: has light wear to the edges/corners, more spine bottom which has some fraying, less at the top spine, front cover is cracking inside( I will attempt a minor repair in turn making it very tight instead of tight). Book is very square, there is foxing(spots) on the upper page ends but not inside, other two ends just dulled. Previous owner signature on the 1st leaf ink fountain black ink. DJ: minor chipping except a spot bottom spine taking out "& D" part of the U. It is soiled and rubbing Removing part of the N on the front cover. Please see photos or request them if not seen here.

Please see photos for details. Slightly darken spine, rubbing to edges Store Sticker inside front cover, Hinges cracking but very tight book. Paper seems to be of better grade than most I've seen. Light stains(fingers I guess) covers. Still a overall clean, very tight and square. It does have all the issue points, pg 419 and the matching dates and the red square Main Title Page.

ENGLISH TAN cloth(1st state) with black lettering, White paper(same as the one signed to his father, 1st state), with the "92" slightly raised of the 1921 copyright date(3 different types to have been found), with the error on page 419. The spines are slightly bruised with a touch of rubbing to the extremes. This is the best copy I have seen in 35 years of collecting. I know I have a signature in my files that should come with it, maybe. Hard to tell but maybe a slight lean or manufacturing mistake.

PLEASE SEE PHOTOS. I personally like this edition it is better made than the first edition and will last a long time(almost 100 years old now).

BLACKish/green LEATHER WITH GOLD LETTERING AND DESIGNS. Beautiful signature, book has minor defects like a bumped corner front bottom minor, a small dent front cover, and scratches on the page ends. But a nice cheap copy of a Pulitzer Winner Signed or Autograph.

You either like his views or you don't, if you are a fan here is your SIGNED copy with a sketch. Rubbing to the outer covers around the edges.

CODE C-8-46 = 3RD PRINTING, AUGUST, 1946. Book is tight,clean, and square. but spine is faded,surface tears spine, and wear.

THIS A STATED FIRST PRINTING,WITH AN INSCRIPTION 5 LINES IN AUTHORS HANDWRITING SIGNED DATED IN BLACK INK 1ST LEAF. LIGHT GREEN CLOTH,WITH RED LETTERING,LIGHT SHELFWEAR,LIGHT SOILING AND THE SPINE ENDS ARE BEGINNING TO FRAY. THE INSIDE COVERS HAVE LIGHT FOXING BEGINNING, INCLUDING THE SIGNED PAGE. REST OF THE BOOK CLEAN AND VERY TIGHT. dj: IS A FIRESIDE THEATRE BOOK CLUB EDITION,HAS RUBBING,CHIPPING,SMALL CHIPS,LIGHT SOILING. THIS PULITZER WINNING BOOK IS SCARCE SIGNED.

5th printing code f-11-46,blue with lighter blue lettering,very minor shelfwear to book,slight browning to page ends and inside covers,previous owner name in light pencil 1st leaf. DJ; has big tears,the one on the spine all the way down,1/2 inch chips and rubbing,the dj is now in mylar to keep the dj together and protect it.

[b.7.46] b=2nd printing,7=month July,46=year 1946. Dark Brownish Maroon cloth with gold lettering(all intact), spines ends bruised, corners sharp, unread tightness, very square, and very clean(no marks). Very uniform colors except for front cover about 2 x 2 bottom near spine. All page edges milled. The top spine is lightly pulled, noticeable slightly because the paper is semi-squared.I will probably find a dustjacket to increase the value and will add a spare signature to increase the value even more but for now, the price is as-is for now.

If you notice the date on the signed page is bonded paper which will hold a signature in place for almost ever and it is date June 1972. These were printed and signed to celebrate her 80th birthday and usually came in a 12 volume set, but other books were planned, this is one of those. The pages were signed and installed(tipped in like the others). The page is real, the signature is real but is un numbered(called out of series) I have only seen 3 of these so they were very limited I guess, the rest are 100s for sale. The only defects I see is there is a touch of rubbing to the spine ends on the book and DJ, otherwise it better than Near Fine, Unread, unmarked and very square.
