cat40a. Boston: Arena, 1893. Reprint - first published in Philadelphia by Miller Publications, 1892. Green cloth, spine and front cover designed and lettered in gilt. Tan patterned end papers. Paper browning, some light shelf wear, a few pencil notes, in general a bright very good copy. Laid in is a publisher's ad leaflet which contains an outline sketch of the novel. A utopian tale, set in the Philadelphia of 1950. This Arena edition is very uncommon.

ALS in pen on the recto of a bifolium, to an unknown recipient. Written from Little Warwick Street; the date is Dec 21, 1782. Conway suggests that regiments heading for Jamaica should "if possible touch at Barbados". He expresses concern about the accommodation of troops, mentioning the Carolina Garrison. Signed: "H.S. Conway". Titled on the verso of the second leaf: "Dec 21, 1782 / Genl. Conway". Old stains and discoloration, quite severe, several horizontal folds, but intact. Conway had held the post of Commander-In-Chief of the Forces since March of 1782; he would be promoted to Field Marshall in October of 1793.

Hand-tinted (clothing & hair), with a facsimile of Auber's signature beneath. Sheet size is 29cm x 46cm / 11.5 x 18 inches. At left: "Z. Belliard". At lower center: "Lith. de Delpech". Aarhus: Kannike Tryk, 1975. White cloth, plain & unlettered, in a pictorial red dust jacket. Jacket a bit worn at edges, large piece torn from upper rear jacket panel, otherwise a nice copy. Published for the theater's 75th Jubilee. A large volume, profusely illustrated. This copy has been presented to someone in 1977, and has been signed by 13 people, at least some of whom are associated with Danish theatre. I cannot make out all of the names, but a few are: Barbara Freud-Magnus, Erik V. Jacobsen, Erik Wisler, Freddy Laursen, Max Gjedde, Jens Anker Olsen.

Stuttgart, etc.: Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt, [c.1910].. Green pictorial cloth lettered in gilt, designed in black and dark green. Two leaves have some wrinkles and short tears to the margins, small worn spot at base of spine, but in general a bright and attractive copy. Frontispiece and many illustrations by Gustav Dore.

This is a bind-up of twelve plays, each with its own title page and a frontispiece by Pierce Egan (one play has an additional plate as well). Contributors include James Sheridan Knowles, J.R. This collaborative novel is a tale of slavers, murder and revenge. Wright III: 1334.
