Description:
London: Jonathan Cape, 1971. First Edition. New/very good +. First Printing. A Fine copy of the uncorrected proof in a Very Good+ example of the trial dustjacket. The book is bound in red wrappers with a white publisher's label printed in black. The jacket measures 3/8" taller than the proof, resulting in some creasing along the upper edge, as well as a short, closed tear at the upper corner of the front hinge. A touch of light wear to the extremities, otherwise an attractive example. The words PROOF ONLY are printed along the edge of the rear jacket flap, and this version differs in a number of ways from the jacket used on the First Hardcover Edition. An impressive collection of 20 stories by this titan of Latin American literature, and the only example of this proof copy we've seen in the trial dustjacket.
