Description:
London: Jonathan Cape, 1971. First Edition. New/very good +. First Printing. A Fine copy of the uncorrected proof in a Very Good+ example of the trial dustjacket. The book is bound in red wrappers with a white publisher's label printed in black. The jacket measures 3/8" taller than the proof, resulting in some creasing along the upper edge, as well as a short, closed tear at the upper corner of the front hinge. A touch of light wear to the extremities, otherwise an attractive example. The words PROOF ONLY are printed along the edge of the rear jacket flap, and this version differs in a number of ways from the jacket used on the First Hardcover Edition. An impressive collection of 20 stories by this titan of Latin American literature, and the only example of this proof copy we've seen in the trial dustjacket.

Description:
New York: E.P. Dutton & Co., Inc, 1970. First American Edition. The author's sixth book translated into English, and together with Ficciones, the collection he considered his major work. The volume collects 20 stories - eleven of which had never previously appeared in book form in English - and a lengthy autobiographical essay. While many of these works are exceptional metaphysical fantasies, the title work stands above the others, describing "a magical point in space which contains all others, and in which the whole infinite universe can be glimpsed" (Barron, Fantasy Literature 3-43). The English versions of these stories are superb; to this point, di Giovanni's translations were the only ones done with Borges's collaboration. Uncommon signed. Becco 281. First Printing. Octavo (24cm); navy blue cloth, with titles stamped in gilt on spine; dustjacket; [6],7-286,[2]pp. Signed by the author in blue ball-point pen on the title page. New York: Del Rey / Ballantine Books, 2003. First American Edition. Winner of the Philip K. Dick Award for best original paperback SF book of 2003 in its U.S. edition, this violent, fast-paced first novel is a prime example of latter-day cyberpunk. In a world in which everyone's mind is stored in a digitized "cortical stack," makng it possible to "resleeve" people into new bodies, natural or accidental death is virtually unknown. Super-agent Takeshi Kovacs is "resleeved" into a cop's body and sent to investigate the murder of a prominent citizen, but if he is to succeed, he must first survive a number of violent attacks by unknown assailants, not to mention an encounter with a police officer who used to love the original owner of his new body" (Barron, Anatomy of Wonder II-787).
