Description:
Calgary, AB: Bayeaux Arts, 1999. Paperback. Very Good. Clean, tight, unmarked; very minimal wear; appears unread; Two of the greatest figures of literature freed from their history, Moses and Dalila are back. Alive and wise-cracking. They've been watching us. Everything. They have some interesting judgments on our "progress" since thrir own primitive times. Here we meet them - not as mythic symbols - but as feeling, thinking human beings. In voices we might recognize from our own experience, they finally give us their side of the story. Here is a cheerfully irreverent, sometimes learned, usually bawdy Alternative Bible.

Description:
London, UK: Karnac, 2013. Paperback. Very Good. Clean, tight, unmarked; few light scratches to covers; otherwise absolute minimal wear; The authors and editors of this book look fear and terror in the face and encourage others to do so as well - on behalf of our own unprocessed terror, that of patients we see, and of the world in which we live. while it is well known that fear of separation and loss trigger the attachment system, putting fear - much less terror - in the spotlight strains the emotional capacities of even the most secure therapists. This book encourages us to look"within and without", to share the fear states and terror states of our patients and clients as a means for co-creating a new reality with room for hope and trusting connection.

Toronto, ON: Random House Canada, 2010. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. SIGNED BY ALISSA YORK on title page; Clean, tight, unmarked; very minimal wear; Alissa York creates a contemporary human fable that taps into the great tenderness and drama at the heart of the animal world. The wide ravine that bisects the city is home to countless species of urban wildlife, including human waifs and strays. When Edal Jones can't cope with the casual cruelty she encounters in her job as a federal wildlife officer, she finds herself drawn to a beacon of solace nestled in the valley under the unlikely banner of an auto-wrecker's yard. Guy Howell, the handsome proprietor, offers sanctuary to animals and people alike: a half-starved hawk and a brood of orphaned raccoon kits, a young soldier whose spirit failed him during his first tour of duty, a teenage runaway and her massive black dog. Guy is well versed in the delicate workings of damaged beings, and he might just stand a chance… Read More

New York, NY: Columbia University Press, 2002. Soft cover. Very Good. Clean, tight, unmarked; slight wear to inside corners; otherwise absolute minimal wear; This is the definitive account of the practice of sexual slavery that the Japanese military perpetrated during World War II, written by the researcher principally responsible for exposing the Japanese government's culpability for these atrocities. Yoshimi Yoshiaki provides a wealth of documentation and testimony to prove the existence of some 2,000 centers where as many as 200,000 Korean, Filipina, Taiwanese, Indonesian, Burmese, Dutch, Australian, and some Japanese women were restrained for months and forced to engage in sexual activity with Japanese military personnel. Many of the women were teenagers, some as young as 14. To date (2002), the Japanese government has neither admitted responsibility for creating the comfort station system nor given compensation directly to former comfort women.
