NP: NP, 1862. No binding. Very Good. 2-3/8 x 3-1/2 inches. Carte-de-Visite (CDV). Front with type affixed "G. Augustus Yeomans, Odessa, C.W. Queen's College, 1862. On reverse inscribed, "Yours truly, Geo. A. Yeomans Odessa, Kingston, Ontario.Very good condition. George Augstus Yeomans was the son of David Prentice and Nancy (Guess) Yeomans, was born June 30,1845, in Easton, Pa. George immigrated from the United States in 1848. He made a public confession of faith in the First Presbyterian Church of Princeton,N.J., at the age of twenty. His preparatory studies were pursued in the Queen's College Preparatory School, Kingston, Can., and he graduated from Queen's University, Kingston, in 1863. He spent the next year in teaching. He began the study of theology in Queen's College, spending a year there, 1864-65. Entering the Seminary at Princeton in 1865, he took the full three years' course there, graduating in1868. Small card, 3-1/8 x 1-1/2 inches, signed in pencil by George Young and his first wife, Margaret Ravior, also a successful marathon swimmer, written, Aug. 16/34 Sincerely George Young Catalina Kid Margaret Ravin Young 193 21-32 marathon 1934. Reverse of trimmed printed card for Gordon A. McIntyre of Toronto. Very good condition. George Young was a 17-year-old Canadian marathon swimmer who on 15-16 January 1927 became the rst swimmer to swim the channel between Catalina Island and the mainland of California. This took place during a contest called the Wrigley Ocean Marathon, sponsored by chewing gum and sports magnate William Wrigley Jr. Young was the only person to complete the swim, taking 15 hours and 44 minutes to complete the 35 kilometer (22 mile) course. This feat earned him a prize of $25,000 and the nickname "The Catalina Kid". Later won in 1931, the CNE Marathon Swim. Arto Yuzbasiyan was born in 1948 in Istanbul, Turkey to a talented, pianist mother, and a father who was a textile manufacturer. Though he did not play a musical instrument like the rest of his mother's talented family, he was interested in drawing and painting and so at the age of eight, he started taking lessons from a religious painter by the name of Ojeni Telyan.
