1986. London, Thames and Hudson Ltd, 1986. 18 cm x 23 cm. 144 pages with 141 illustrations. Original softcover. Excellent condition with only very minor signs of external wear. Clean inside with solid binding. "Ireland's greatest poet, William Butler Yeats, was also perhaps the most outstanding poet to have written in English since Wordsworth. Many of his early poems - wistful, mysterious and suffused with Pre-Raphaelite imagery - are of haunting beauty. But in the early 1900s Yeats became disillusioned with this twilight, imaginary world and turned his thoughts increasingly to reality. They analyze, with acuteness… Read more

Excellent condition with only very minor signs of external wear. Clean inside with solid binding. "It is with great pleasure that the National Gallery of Ireland hosts the exhibition Images in Yeats. Recent years have confirmed the special position of Jack B. Yeats in twentieth century Irish painting. For the visitor to this exhibition the clear development of the artist's style from graphic work to watercolours to oil paintings is an intriguing visual experience. The late pictures are splendid in their use of colour, impasto and subject matter. This excellent catalogue printed with entries in three languages demonstrates the fact that Yeats is an Irish painter of European stature. The Exhibition is of particular importance to the National Gallery in that it offers visitors the opportunity to study… Read more
