Archive of four press photos of the Yippie countercultural antiwar movement, featuring most prominently Jerry Rubin, who is also featured in two lengthy letters published in the the New York Review of Books, namely "An Exchange on Resistance" and "An Emergency Letter to My Brothers and Sisters in the Movement". New York Review of Books, February 13, 1969 and April 10, 1969 issues. Eight pages total. Photos of Rubin range from 1966-73. The earliest photo is of a stunt Rubin pulled where he has dressed up as a British redcoat with a placard reading "I wear this uniform because my country was born in revolution. Today American uses blitzkrieg bombing with jelly gasoline to destroy the Vietnamese revolution. Our soldiers have become the redcoats of the world." Description:
Kurosawa's Yojimbo. Archive of 4 Original Vintage photos used as lobby cards in movie theaters. All about 7" x 9.5". Glossy and black and white. Yojimbo is a 1961 samurai film directed by Akira Kurosawa in which a ronin arrives in a small town where competing crime lords fight for supremacy. The film stars Toshiro Mifune and was nominated for the Academy Award. Yojimbo inspired several films including A Fist Full of Dollars and even Lucas' Star Wars. "Yojimbo over the years, became widely regarded as one of the best films by Kurosawa and one of the greatest films ever made." All four photos feature the title "Yojimbo" and "Der Leibwachter" in the lower white margin below. Pinhole marks in corners, but does not affect the image. In very good condition.

Yordan, Philip. Anna Lucasta. New York: Random House, 1945. SIGNED First Edition, First Printing, Hardcover with Dust Jacket. 184 pages. Measures 5.75" x 8.25". Signed and inscribed by author on front free endpaper: "For George, Whose heart is as big as all Russia, Phil." Yordan originally wrote this play about a Polish American family, but it was adapted by the American Negro Theater and performed by an all African American cast starting in Harlem in 1944. It moved to the Mansfield Theatre on Broadway in 1944 and starred Hilda Simms, Canada Lee and Alice Childress. For the time, the production was critically acclaimed for presenting a story that does not condescend African-Americans and performances from an all African-American cast. Many with handwritten captions. Album size 9.25" x 6.5" inches. Photos range in size from 1.5" x 2.75" to 5" x 4", with most around 3.5" x 2.5" inches. Original red covers.
