London: Wishart, 1930. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. (London: Wishart & Company 1930). First UK Edition, First Impression. Publisher's pale green boards with gilt lettering to the spine. 5" x 7.75",158 pages. Previous owner's signature on the front free end-paper. The textblock is clean and bright with tight binding. The boards are well preserved with crisp edges. Just a hint of sunning to the spine and a slither of discolouration to the spine tips (matching miniscule wear to the dustwrapper). The gilt lettering on the spine is clear and vibrant. Overall a VG++ copy. The dustwrapper is in VG+ condition with darkening to the spine and with a slither of loss to the top edge of the front panel. Shows well. John "Jack" Butler Yeats (29 August 1871 - 28 March 1957) is remembered primarily as an artist, though he had a significant interest in theatre and literature. He was the youngest son of Irish portraitist John Butler Yeats, and the brother of the… Read More

Description:
London: John Murray, 1928. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. First UK Edition. Publisher's purple boards with gold tolling to the spine and author and title blind-stamped to the front board. A near fine (or better) copy (with offsetting to both sets of end-papers) in like D/W priced 7/6 net to the spine and front cover (as called for). A particularly fresh-looking copy with the original D/W mostly intact: with the slightest of fraying to corners and tips of spine and a little loss (approx. 0.3 cm X 0.9 cm) at the bottom left of spine. Younghusband's spiritual vision of utopia (set in the Himalayas) in which he attempts to demonstrate how the fire of national consciousness or active love could transform first a city, then a whole country and, finally, through that country the whole World. Very scarce in this condition in D/W. Photographs/scans available upon request.
