Spine label perished at edges. Title page vignette. Double columns. The inner columns are in Greek, the outer columns are in Latin. Decorative headpieces and initials. Appendix and three indices at the rear. Joints and spine ends skillfully restored. Tape was formerly present at the head and foot of spine and the surrounding areas of the front board. It has been professionally removed. New endbands. The hinges have been reinforced. A tear to the front flleaf has been repaired with Japanese tissue. There is a lengthy and very warm contemporary gift inscription (dated 1854) from a student to his former Greek and Latin professor on the front flyleaf.
