Norton & Company 1989),. This is such an early published work by Wallace that his name is cited as D.F. Wallace, which definitely didn't stick. Book Condition: covers abraded in places, with creasing to corners, with crinkling and one small bb sized chip near tail of spine; interior first 20pp show faint crease, otherwise unmarked and unmarred, sound binding. A life-sized statue of some ancestoral figure of the estate stands in center of a great fountain. This quiet scene is our introduction to a certain garden in Paris, a special place for the author, where, newly married, active in society with her husband, and in love, Miss Wallace spends a few magical expatriate years. Tips are sharp and square on bottom and just a tad bumped up top. The top and bottom of the spine are a bit bumped but not by much. Gilt lettering on spine is completely fresh and whole. Dust Jacket condition: Very Good. Crown of spine chipped. 1.5" closed tear and a 1" closed tear with a crease resultant to front panel. Front panel is v. lightly sunned. This book looks and feels great, Joseph Wambaugh is a very underrated writer, and The Black Marble may just be his best work of fiction (The Onion Field stands in a class of it's own). SIGNED boldly by author on the 2nd free endpaper in a very legible hand.

Dust Jacket Condition: easily the nicest copy of this title we've ever handled, bright, white dust jacket with none of the yellowing typical for this title; correct price of $10.00 intact, not a single chip, crinkle or ding visible; maybe very, very light wear to the extremities, and there is a bit of sticker residue to front flap, but if you've been hunting for that special copy, look no further (farther?). A very sharp copy.

It's really a very handsome copy and scarce in this good condition.
