Madison, Wisconsin: There Press, 2014. First Edition, First Printing. Wraps. Near Fine. 136 pages : illustrations ; 22 cm. Softcover. Book condition: Near fine with very mild surface scuffing to covers. A sharp copy. From the publisher: "Poetry. Art. Poems by James Wagner; paintings by Bracha L. Ettinger. Includes 17 pages of full-color artwork. Eight years after James Wagner's TRILCE (Calamari Press), a work of surreal and disjointed loops, neologisms, and disarming sparks, comes THROWN: sixty-six lyrical, emotive, and elusive poems written within the otherly atmospheres of eleven paintings by Bracha L. Ettinger. THROWN is, on the surface, an ekphrastic encounter between the art of one of the most spiritually and psychologically penetrating minds of the present, and a poet who has moved fearlessly into the destabilizing realms of certainty and identity, while enveloped in the multi- contextual slippages of sense-making. Beyond the surface, we are in the fray and the frayed, into a world where the…

New York: Grand Street Press;, 1992. First Edition. Wraps. Near Fine. Grand Street Vol. 11, No. 2 (Grand Street #42). 240 pp.; illus. 23cm. Softcover. Perfectbound glossy illustrated wraps. Literary magazine containing the first appearance in print of ANY portion of work-in-progress INFINITE JEST, i.e. material that would ultimately become a part of 1996 David Foster Wallace magnum opus "Infinite Jest" is published for the world to see. Presented as a story titled "Three Protusions" the excerpt runs for 13 pages and encompasses an early sequence in "Infinite Jest" where the character named Eredy is slowly becoming unraveled as he waits for delivery of his order of high grade marijuana from his drug dealer. It's a tour de force DFW set piece, happening almost entirely in Eredy's head, describing in excrutiating, microscopic detail the torment experienced by any and everyman desparate, unnerved, and falling apart as they wait for their drug dealer to show up with the goods. Book Condition: very light…

Chicago: A.C. McClurg & Co, 1911. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Lacking. 5 p. l., 13-198 p. incl. front., illus. 20 cm. small octavo. Yellow green publisher's cloth with violet lettering stamped to spine and front cover. Decoration (charming) in violet and cream color stamped to front cover, portrays a cottage in Paris about the size of the Louvre fluffy clouds rising in the distance behind the architecture and a petite bois stretching towards us. A life-sized statue of some ancestoral figure of the estate stands in center of a great fountain. This quiet scene is our introduction to a certain garden in Paris, a special place for the author, where, newly married, active in society with her husband, and in love, Miss Wallace spends a few magical expatriate years. The consensus of critics of the day was that Miss Wallace made a valuable contribution to the general knowledge of the social customs and mores of the petit bourgeoisie of Paris in the early 1900's. A handsome copy;…

New York: Delacorte Press, 1978. First Edition, First Printing so stated with no additional printings indicated. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. Black cloth over boards, gold gilt lettering on spine, aqua blue end papers. Book condition: Near Fine. Top staining is still nice light apricot color. Tips are sharp and square on bottom and just a tad bumped up top. The top and bottom of the spine are a bit bumped but not by much. Gilt lettering on spine is completely fresh and whole. Dust Jacket condition: Very Good. Crown of spine chipped. 1.5" closed tear and a 1" closed tear with a crease resultant to front panel. Front panel is v. lightly sunned. This book looks and feels great, Joseph Wambaugh is a very underrated writer, and The Black Marble may just be his best work of fiction (The Onion Field stands in a class of it's own). SIGNED boldly by author on the 2nd free endpaper in a very legible hand.

New York: Grove Press, 1968. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 451pp. 24cm. Hardcover. Publisher's original black cloth over boards with spine lettered in silver. Book Condition: Fine, almost certainly unread, barely handled by all appearances, silver spine lettering brilliant and without signs of wear; small sticker residue to upper paste down --the single, miniscule flaw in an otherwise bright, unmarred copy. Dust Jacket Condition: easily the nicest copy of this title we've ever handled, bright, white dust jacket with none of the yellowing typical for this title; correct price of $10.00 intact, not a single chip, crinkle or ding visible; maybe very, very light wear to the extremities, and there is a bit of sticker residue to front flap, but if you've been hunting for that special copy, look no further (farther?). A very sharp copy.
