Tiny corner stains, else very nice. A highly ephemeral souvenir booklet honoring Brother Charlie Storey, a gospel singer and co-founder of Charlie Storey and the Brooklyn All-Stars. He founded the group in 1945, and this 1981 pamphlet is evidence of his cultural influence in the African-American community in Brooklyn, decades into his career. A spread in the middle of the pamphlet is entitled "Highlights in Bro. Charlie Storey's Life," and contains brief descriptions of his accomplishments, such as: "Fruit & Vegetable Stores, Bar-Be-Que, Trucking Business, New & Used Furniture Store," etc. There are reproductions of photographs from his professional life, including an honorific portrait of his wife. Mild fading to extremities, but a generally crisp, clean copy. This is example # 17 of 300 hand-numbered limited copies.

Corners gently bumped, some stains to boards, but the contents clean, apart from a small handful of tiny pencil notations. This copy SIGNED by Wallace on the front free endpaper in a contemporary hand. This concise political volume essentially served as Wallace's campaign book for his 1948 run for the presidency under the Progressive Party banner. The book is uncommon generally, and we have not traced any signed copies in auction records or recent commerce.

Near fine in original grey cloth, titled and decorated in purple and white. Very lightly soiled, with spine lettering slightly dulled. Binding square and tight, text clean and bright. From The North American Review, Volume 194 (1911): "Wallace...lived once in a serious-fronted house on the Rue des Saint Peres, but her bedroom window looked out on a garden...from here the author makes trips to Fontainebleau, describes the garden of Tante Placide's gentle heart, or discourses in the garden of Life. Tender, evanescent, slight, and gentle, these essays in and on a garden have a very special charm, and once again it is a pity that they are not better illustrated." A crisp copy.

This came from a collection of sample books that sat in an attic for many years, and is thus a little musty, with some mild external wear. A few samples have some small edges cut out, but are mostly present. Overall, in very good condition. Also suitable for scrapbooking or art projects.

Somewhat nicer outside than in, it presents as a clean and nice Victorian binding. Spine cocked, some foxing to the endleaves, and the inner hinges are cracked. An uncommon volume, and rather appealing externally, though by inward appearances, a reading copy.
