Description:
NY: Privately published by the artist, 1979.. The print bears Wang's label on the verso and is signed by him and dated 1979 along with the notation "Ann Magnuson at Club 57 Lady Wrestling Night, 1979." The photo shows performance artist, and regular denizen of the club scene, Ann Magnuson sprawled on the bloodied canvas of a boxing ring as blood drips from her mouth and her corner assistants try to help her as the announcer with a microphone leans over the ropes. One of the most famous, often-published photos that epitomized the performance events that took place at Club 57, one of the most famous clubs of the period that served as music venue, screening room, hangout for the likes of Basquiat and Haring, performance space, and art gallery. Harvey Wang was the preeminent photographer of the Downtown club scenes of the '80s covering all the major venues much the same way that Fred McDarrah documented the activities and haunts of the Beats in Greenwich Village a generation earlier. Fine (10" x 8").…

Description:
Philadelphia: Institute of Contemporary Art, 1965.. One of three different invitations issued for Warhol's first retrospective, held at the University of Pennsylvania's Institute of Contemporary Art. By all accounts an outrageous event where Andy and Edie Sedgwick were swarmed like rock stars and Warhol's reputation as one of the most important artists of the period was firmly secured. The invite is printed on an actual Campbell's Soup label that curator Sam Green obtained from Campbell's. Included is a xerox of the letter from Campbell's to Sam Green stating that they sent 350 Tomato Soup labels. Also included is a letter from the executor of Green's estate attesting to the fact that this invitation came from his estate and was designed by him. One crease where folded as issued, else fine. The label, given the small number originally produced and the passage of almost 50 years, is rare. A wonderful item from a key juncture in Warhol's career.

Description:
LA: Irving Blum Gallery, 1969.. The poster features Warhol's color illustration of a Campbell's "Pepper Pot Soup" can, and the show was devoted to Warhol's 1968 edition of "Soup Cans" silkscreens printed by Salvatore Silkscreen Co., and published by Factory editions. Blum and Warhol had an important relationship dating from 1962 when Blum presented Warhol's first solo pop art exhibition at his Ferus Gallery featuring 32 of Warhol's Campbell's Soup Can paintings. This important 1969 exhibition showcased, at the peak of Warhol's pop art notoriety, his continuing involvement with this iconic image. A fine, fresh copy (a couple of infinitesimal marks from printing process). Measures 17" x 11". Scarce, especially in this condition.
