Description:
Hillsboro: Printed and published at the Hillsboro Gazette Office, 1878., 1878. First edition. First edition. Original pictorial wrappers, 56 pp., illustrated, portraits. According to Jeannine Roediger of the Ohio's Times Bulletin, in an article entitled, "Skeleton's in the Colset," and dated April 27, 2013, "Robert McKimie, "Little Reddy," was born near Rainsboro, Ohio. He joined the army and was sent to Texas in 1869. Letters sent home indicated he had left the army and was raising cattle. He returned to Ohio in 1877, married a local girl and became a merchant. He was very successful and word of his success spread, by word of mouth, to the West. What had happened out west, wasn't the story McKimie told, however. When Western Sheriff Seth Bullock heard some of the stories about this red-headed merchant from Ohio, he put two and two together and thought maybe this was the famous "Little Reddy," a notorious outlaw from Texas. His hunch proved true and he… Read More

[Washington]: [Government Printing Office], 1865., 1865. First edition. First Edition. Half Morocco and Marbled Boards, with title in gilt on spine. VI, 108pp. Thirty-Eighth Congress, Second Session. In the House of Representatives, January 10, 1865. The Committee was convened to investigate all matters connected with the action between Colonel Chivington and the Cheyenne Indians and to ascertain who were the aggressors; whether the campaign was conducted by Chivington according to the recognized rules of civilized warfare; and whether or not it was forced upon the Indians by the whites. The investigation was virtually a court-martial of Chivington and Governor Evans, and reveals in detail the acts of cruelty, barbarity and murder perpetrated upon a body of unoffending Indians. "According to the report, U.S. Army troops...attacked without warning a village of Cheyenne Indians and killed over one hundred, three-quarters of whom were women and children"--Wagner-Becker-Camp 418. Description:
Tucson: Arizona Historical Society, 1974., 1974. First edition. 9 1/2 x 6 1/2" in burnt orange pictorial wrappers. No. 402 of 500 copies. 26 pps. Story of Endicott Peabody, minister of the Episcopalian congregation in Tombstone, Arizona, in 1882. Peabody arrived in Tombstone just three month after the gunfight at the O.K. corral. Over a few months, he succeeded in getting St. Paul's Episcopal Church built for approximately $5,000. He was able to raise the funds in such a short amount of time because he was not afraid to go door-to-door asking for donations, including asking at the town's saloons. His outgoing manner helped him make many friends, including Wyatt Earp, whose family donated the altar rail for the new church. Though he was warmly embraced in Tombstone, he wrote of his homesickness for Massachusetts. He left Tombstone after only six months. Laid in is an 8-page program of the Centennial Celebration of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Fine, unread copy.
