Wallace's first book, he would go on to write wildly popular novels throughout the 60s and 70s. This book looks at such figures as Alexander Selkirk (the basis for Robinson Crusoe) Dr. Joseph Bell (an inspiration for Sherlock Holmes) and several others. First edition stated, VG in a VG price-clipped jacket with a couple of small chips to edges. Book is in quite nice condition, with quarter bound with bright red cloth and rose colored boards.

Slightly oversized, book fine in a VG+ jacket --crease to top front panel. Very nice reproductions of the Rackham illustrations on a dozen color plates.

Gorgeous black and white drawings tell the story of a boy and his bear, winner of the 1953 Caldecott Medal. Cover shows expected wear around the top and along the spine -- a few small chips missing at top of spine, "The" is partially obscured. Front flap is price-clipped, neat bookmark on rear flap, can't think many of those survived intact. A great collector's copy for those who can't afford a true first!

Westchester, IL: Benefic Press, 1969. Hardcover. Very Good. Rohrer, George. A nice, bright copy of this title in a series that must have been intended for early readers. Moonbeam the monkey works at "Rocekt Port" (NASA??) learns to jump with a parachute in this story with fullcolor illustrations. Text and layout very reminiscent of the Random House I Can Read All By Myself series (i.e., Dr. Seuss.) and in 1969, space travel would have been all the rage! Picture cover has minor wear to extremities, withdrawn from a school library. Very amusing find.
