Original full vellum, gilt to spines and upper covers, t.e.g. Spine of Rhinegold slightly rubbed and faded, Siegfried lacks tie, some light spotting to covers, some off setting from brown paper to next text leaf, but generally quite bright and clean. Each illustration with titled tissue guard. Rhinegold is number two hundred and fifty-one of eleven hundred copies, Siegfried is number five hundred and eighty-eight, both signed by Rackham to limitation leaf. Full contemporary calf by Edwards of Halifax, raised double bands, spine in six panels, title label to second panel, remaining panels with central urn, with fleuron corner pieces, with gilt rule either side of bands, covers with central panel of tree calf, with greek key border, within a double frame of Etruscanesque blind tool and gilt roll, with a thick and thin double fillet border, gilt line to edges, and a rope roll border to inner edges, watered silk doublures and pastedowns, a.e.g. with a fore-edge painting of Countess Weir Bridge on the River Exe. Bath: Richard Cruttwell, 1814. Two sermons bound as one - 'Divine Providence', 23pp, [1]; 'Divine Favour', 23pp, [1]. Half vellum and paper over boards, smooth back, title in gilt to spine, with diaper pattern gilt decoration to head and tail of spine, gilt crown to middle of covers, a.e.g., blue endpapers. Slightly rubbed, internally lightly browned but generally clean. The first title has 'Warner's Sermon on the Peace 1814' to head of title. The second title was a sermon published to aid a fund for the benefit of the families of the British soldiers who died at Waterloo, the total of the collection is noted to the foot of the title (98 pounds and four shillings). Later full polished calf by Riviere, raised bands, spines in six panels, morocco title label to second panel, contrasting author / volume label to third, remaining panels with gilt central quadrilobe and volute corner pieces, triple fillet border to covers, with roundel corner pieces, gilt rules to edges, gilt roll to inner edges, a.e.g., with maroon endpapers. Very slightly rubbed to extremities, a couple of minor scuffs to covers. Internally lightly browned, but clean. Two volumes complete - lviii, [2], 531pp, [1] and Volume Two - [2], 574pp. Later full-calf, raised bands, spines in six panels, morocco author label to second panel, contrasting morocco volume label to third, remaining with elongated volute and flower head rolls with central device, covers with single fillet border, marbled endpapers with all edges marbled. Slightly chipped to head of spines with small amount of loss, worn to outer joints, with some minor scraping to covers, internally lightly browned with sporadic minor foxing, but generally fairly clean. London: Elkin Mathews and John Lane, 1894. [44]p (including blanks), original gilt decorated vellum designed by Charles Ricketts, with his monogram to bottom left hand corner of upper cover and the monogram of the binders (Leighton, Son and Hodge) to the bottom left hand corner of the lower cover. Corners slightly bumped and rubbed, vellum generally quite bright and clean. Internally some light browning to page edges, some light foxing to several pages (as often), but generally fairly clean. Small booksellers label and previous owners book plate to front paste down. Printed in three colours throughout. Stated one of two hundred copies for the UK, with another fifty printed for the US and twenty-five large paper copies (and possibly a few more). London: S.W. Fores, 1804. Hand-coloured caricature, approximately 360mm x 245mm. Slightly creased with a couple of small tears to top edge, top left hand corner missing with slight loss, (now repaired). 'The Coffin Expedition' shows French sailors wearing bonnet rouges sailing in cannon laden coffins with skulls for mastheads ('Boney's crest, a skull without brains'), with one 'boat' sinking and the others being closed in on by the British navy in the background, with one French sailor exclaiming 'Oh de Corsican Bougre, was make dese Gun Boats on purpose for our Funeral'. Contemporary half morocco and cloth, raised bands, spine in six panels, title lettered direct to second panel, t.e.g. Bumped and rubbed to extremities, upper joint is slightly split at head but holding well. Internally some browning, foxing, and off setting to the inscription plates within text, a few plates with foxing, generally to margins, one plate torn along bottom edge of plate mark, one with a closed tear to margin, and one slightly worn to fore edge, one plate bound in upside down, some minor marginal marking and foxing, but generally fairly clean. With six plates of inscriptions to text, sixty plates on sixty-two sheets (Palmyra) and forty-six plates (Balbec), including eleven double page or folding, by Fourdrinier, Muller and Major after drawings by Borra. London: James Wyld, 1857. iv, 114pp. Wyld's map of India, coloured, dissected and mounted on linen, with index, bound as a book, marbled endpapers. Small map of the world as a frontispiece and a smaller map of the India bound after the advertisement leaves. The map of India itself measures 695mm x 990mm. Extremities rubbed, spine worn. Endpapers and ffeps with newspaper cuttings about India pasted down. Map very lightly browned, a couple of minor abrasions and creases, but generally in good order. First issued in 1841, this is dated 1857, documenting British East India Company control over India, and showing distances between cities, as well as the growth of the railway.
