Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good to VG+, fresh colors and appearance with mild rubbing and crinkling in the usual places. Closed tear the length of an eyelash at spine tail. Flaps show some toning, not clipped, features a dab of white out over the price. Translated from the Spanish original: "La Guerra al fin del Mundo", by Helen R. Lane. Vargas Llosa was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 2010.

Book condition: spine a little slanted, tiny creases here and there else fine. Five hundred and fifty four artists are represented, often with multiple representations of their work. Possibly the book to get if you could only have a single MOMA publication; they've opened up their permanent collection and brought a big chunk of it into the light. A nice copy; MOMA's usual practice in situations such as this is to farm out the hardcover publishing (in this case to Thames & Hudson in London for European distribution and Abrams in the U.S. for hardcover distribution in the states) and we find ourselves chosing the softcover more often than not. Maybe our imagination but we think it is noticeable which of the two reflects the more artfully produced choice. Plate mark size: 443 x 331mm. Print condition: age toned with water stains to upper and lower corners, wrinkled and creased in places. Lovely hand coloring; especially in the costumes of the foreground figures.

The plates are pristine; and amazing. Ten lithographs executed in the great Mourlot attelier. Luxuriant thick wove stock. Ink applied as thick as paint. The usual Mourlot craft knocking on art's door demanding to be noticed.

Condition: Very Good+ with mild wear to extremities and along outer surface of joints, assorted small areas of darkening to leather; interior bright, free of any foxing and unmarred. Nice copies. Translated from the original French. Though not definitive, the 1834 London edition published by Edward Churton is generally considered to be the true first edition, preceding the 1834 Philadelphia edition published by Carey, Lea and Blanchard. In any event it is certainly the more rare of the two.
