Salt Lake City: Signature Books, 1994. First Edition. 493pp. Octavo [23.5 cm] Blue cloth with the title silver stamped on the backstrip. Fine/Fine. Next to Smith, Rigdon was the most influential early Mormon. He imported Reformed Baptist teachings into Latter-day Saint theology, wrote the canonized Lectures on Faith, championed communalism and isolationism, and delivered many of the most significant early sermons, including the famous Salt Sermon and the Ohio temple dedicatory address. Waco, TX: Texian Press, 1970. 208pp. Quarto [27.5 cm] Blue cloth with the title gilt stamped on the backstrip. Very good/Very good. Translated by Chester W. Geue. "The Geue translation of Von Wrede's letters makes many notable contributions to American and Texas history. Most immediately the new edition restores the viable state in the twentieth century the American experiences and observations of Friedrich von Wrede, a historic figure of considerable personal importance, the translation reflects with mirror-like quality the everyday life as seen by von Wrede. His letters are written in a clear, readable style that truly entertains as well as instructs." - from the jacket.
