This type of c. 1900 French publisher's insubstantial binding was meant to be replaced when the purchaser took the book to a bookbinder. Gift inscription in Latvian on title page dated 1961. The author, Laimonis Vaczemnieks (1929-1998), was a Lativian writer and film critic. The illustrations, by Latvian artist Gunars Mitrevics (1922-2007), creatively combine black-and-white photographs and color drawings. In Very Good Condition: staples are rusting; edges lightly rubbed; clean and bright.

Malcolm Van Dyke took over the 1st Presbyterian Church of Lansdowne in 1935, facing a congregation that was struggling through the Great Depression and a church that had a large debt, making his first decade a difficult one.
