Philadelphia: The Drexel Triangle, 1969-71. Four tabloid issues of Drexel's student newspaper, "The Triangle," and one issue of "Ac'cent," a supplement to the paper. All issues but one cover Drexel's expansion, which led to protracted anti-gentrification campaigns by various community groups.

[Chicago]: [Women's Voice], 1953. An epistolary publication by Lyrl Clark van Hyning, in which she exposes Freemasonry as Jew-controlled, anti-Christian & anti-American. Although her father-in-law and husband were Masons, she claimed to have written 35 articles exposing Freemasonry's evil & destructive elements. van Hyning was one of the founders of the anti-war organization, We, the Mothers, Mobilize for America, and editor of the "Women's Voice," a widely read nationalist publication. Folded sheet (11 ¼" x 8 ¾"), 4 p. Horizontal fold, else Fine. Copies at the Univ. of Michigan, Michigan State, and the Univ. of Chicago.

An account by the Nashville Presbyterian minister on his experiences overseas with the American Expeditionary Forces. 8vo.; red cloth boards ruled and lettered in black & white, 122 p., dust jacket. Foxing to page edges, corners gently bumped; the dust jacket is rubbed and chipped at spine ends with a 2 ¼" triangular piece lacking from the bottom rear panel at jacket fold. An uncommon title.

Chicago: Charles H. Kerr and Company, 1901. First edition. Twelvemo. Publisher's decorative cloth; 199 pp.; photographic frontispiece of the author. With the stamp of 'Wm Bonstein's Library of Science and Socialism' to the endpapers. William Bonstein appears to have been an unimportant Socialist Labor Party candidate in Washington state during the 1904 election. The author was a Belgian statesman and democratic socialist and in this book argues for collectivization as a core attribute of socialist evolution. Cheap paper browning; rear board slightly soiled, but easily a Very Good+ copy. Uncommon in the first edition.

[London]: Villiers Publications Ltd, 1960. First edition. Octavo. Blue cloth with gilt spine; 188 pp.; dust jacket. INSCRIBED on the half-title from Varney to proletarian novelist, Benjamin Appel. Varney was a pro-Communist poet and professor at NYU. Although mostly forgotten today, he published numerous volumes of proletarian verse and was extolled by poets such as Robinson Jeffers and Wallace Stevens. Blue cloth has bleached spotting, especially egregious along the spine, with very slight wear to board edges; in an unclipped dust jacket, which is slightly chipped at spine ends with a vertical crease to front panel. Good+ overall. A nice association copy.

Philadelphia: Press of George C. Buchanan Company, 1919. First edition. Octavo. Blue cloth boards with gilt-stamped front board; 91 pp.; plates. Welcome Lodge member, Robert Maxwell's copy. Maxwell appears to have been admitted in 1917. Provides an overview of the first 50 years of history of this Philadelphia-based Lodge. Also includes the program for the anniversary party in threadbound wrappers and a booklet for Quaker City Lodge No. 724. The book is in Very Good condition with light rubbing to board edges; corner bumped; foxing to endpapers. We find no other copies offered in the trade (2015).

An uncommon Wickliffe Vennard publication, although thematically similar to his other pamphlets: the machinations of the International Bankers and their attempt to bring about a One World Government. Stapled wrappers (5 ¼" x 8 ¼"), 24 p. Toning to wrappers, penciled owner's name and redacted stamp to title page, else clean throughout. Only two copies in OCLC. Not in SINGERMAN.

New York: Jefferson School of Social Science, 1953. Reprints two articles originally published in 1952 issues of "New Foundations:" "The Fallacy that Puerto Rico Benefits from U.S. Control" and "The Fallacy that the U.S. Freed Puerto Rico." Vila was a member of the Labor Youth League and the Communist Party, East Harlem branch. Side-stapled 11" x 8 ½" sheets mimeographed on rectos only, 5, [1] p. Browning along the edges, tiny chip to the top right corner. Four copies in OCLC.

The author describes his reasons for leaving the priesthood and concludes each chapter with a short biography of a priest who has done the same. He discusses the intrusion of Rome in politics and education, the mental torture of confession, the historical failures of celibacy and chastity, and the detestable profit-driven rituals of the mass. A scathing indictment. Included are photographs of ex-priests.

One copy under the title "Vietnam is a stake not a mistake" in OCLC at the New York Historical Society. But a few other institutions have copies of various CRV newsletters. Possibly the first issue of a newsletter published by the NYC branch of the Committee of Returned Volunteers based on "Number One" stated at the top of the front panel. In this work first published in 1885, German philosopher, Eduard von Hartmann (1842-1906), provides psychological explanations for metaphysical and occult phenomena. Some rubbing and soiling to wrappers with a small bump and tear to spine tail. Clean throughout.
