The author was secretary of the New York State Tenement House Commission & instrumental in drafting the New York State Tenement House Act which mandated better fire exits and running water for bathrooms in every tenement.

Harrison Stafford & Robert E. Allen. Original stapled paper wraps. Moderately soiled, light edge wear including a closed tear (about 1.25") at rear cover, staples rusted causing minor staining, otherwise Very Good. Sixteen issues of the Abnaki Herald, the journal of the nation's oldest YMCA all boy's camp. The camp was founded by Byron Clark in 1901 and is still in existence today. The theme of the journal reflects the camp motto, "Help the Other Fellow."

St. Albans, Vermont: the association, printed by Press of the St. Albans Messenger Co., (1894). Oblong 24mo, 28 & [8] pp., including 14 illustrations from photographs depicting the facility. Original embossed stiff paper wraps, stapled. Not found in OCLC (or any other material from this association) as of 5/26/2022.Covers toned & lightly soiled/ stained, wraps partially split at the spine, staples rusted, good or better. One full page illustration depicts the Alexandria Gazette building. The Narrative of John Trust, another version of which includes the sub-title "The story of the "female stranger" who is buried in the cemetery of St. Paul's Church, Alexandria, Va," is attributed to William F. Carne who was a journalist & eventual owner of the Fairfax [Virginia] Herald. An addenda at the last page of text is provided by "the translator." Uncommon, OCLC locates a single copy (AAS).

Group of ten folio manuscript documents and one partially printed document completed in manuscript involving the real estate transactions of Charles & John Yates in the upper Shenandoah Valley. Approximately 29 pp. in total, all docketed.
Each exhibits expected wear including original folds with associated splits and separations (one document with a small area of archival tissue repair), creasing, tears, small losses (occasionally briefly affecting text), soiling, toning and foxing.
Charles Yates (1728 - 1809) emigrated from England in 1748, first to New York and then, in 1752, to Fredericksburg, Virginia. A prosperous merchant and importer, he was also deeply involved in real estate speculation in Berkeley and Jefferson Counties (now West Virginia).
