Description:
Chapel Hill, North Carolina: The University of North Carolina Press, 2008. [2008] FIRST EDITION, quality, university-printed paperback. Illustrations, comprehensive index, 455 pages. Condition: Light wear to binding, several pages with short tears to margin, else overall Near Fine. Text is clean, readable; illustrations are vivid. This is an excellent work, "A cogently reasoned intellectual history, weaving together political, social, and intellectual history at its best." The author skillfully blends race, gender, and social history to produce a synthetic and balanced account of the politics of disunion in the American Republic (the failure of the founders' effort to establish a stable and lasting representative government). Highly engaging book. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly.…
