Description:
London: Hurst & Blackett, 1961. Quite a lot of creasing and tears to unclipped dustwrapper, particularly at spine ends, and with old sellotape at the folds and elsewhere. Minor bumping to spine ends and corners of black boards and some shelf-wear to bottom edge of same, a previous owner's name and date (1963) on f/ep, some yellowing to the pages, but otherwise a not too bad, tight copy of this hard-cover book. Rosemary Howard met her future husband Vincent Uwemedimo, a Nigerian lawyer, when studying teaching in London, and went to live in Nigeria after their marriage. The book deals mostly with their life in Nigeria. She later established Hillside Preparatory School in Calabar in 1971, staying in charge for thirty years before her retirement. She died in 2012. Doesn't seem to be a common book. 238pp, b&w frontispiece.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
