Description:
The First UK printing published by Faber and Faber, London in 1939. The BOOK is in Very Good+ condition. It is slightly cocked and with light pushing at the spine tips. Light toning and spotting to the text-block. Some offsetting to the end-papers and some light toning to the page edges due the quality of the paper stock used. A previous owner's penned gift inscription on stiff card has been affixed to the first blank end-paper and there is a small date in ink to the same lower page. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. Some edge-wear with a little loss at the spine ends and corners. Some mild splitting to the folds in places. Some toning to the spine and a few age related markings in places. The wrapper artwork remains very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. Profusely illustrated in B/W throughout by Alec Buckels. The very elusive first title the 'Sam Pig' series. Collectible. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
