Historic sites throughout the US are described along with a history of the event that occurred there, organized by state. 324 pages with Index, illustrated throughout with black & white photos, 6-1/2" X 9-3/4". Blue-green cloth covered boards, illustrated front cover, title imprinted on the spine in silver. No dust jacket - though I believe this was not published with a jacket. First trade paperback edition, published by W.W. Norton, 1998. Comic novel by the Booker Prize winning Unsworth. 250 pages. This copy shows very little wear, no former ownership marks, no writing, no creases to the cover or spine. The text is clean, the binding is tight and square. Very minor amount of edge wear from use. This is not a remainder, not a library discard. The attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory, not a stock photo!

First edition hardcover with dust jacket, published by Knopf, 1976. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped, original price of $7.95 is printed on the top corner of the front flap. Jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover. Jacket cover had been taped to the boards with narrow strips of masking tape which are still attached to the boards. Blue-green boards with the title and author name on the spine in silver and gold. No edge wear to the boards, though there are marks from the masking tape. Fore edge of the text block has some foxing spots on the top inch or so. Some sun fading to the title on the spine panel of the jacket too. 5-1/2" X 8-1/4", 303 pages. Hardcover edition with dust jacket, published by Knopf, 1984. This is a book club edition from 1984. The dust jacket is intact and has been protected with a clear, removable cover. This is the edition with the iconic Albrecht Durer etching on the front cover. The jacket cover had been taped to the boards with thin strips of masking tape - the tape is still attached to the front board - they are missing from the back board but have left residue from the adhesive on the the boards. Jacket just shows some edge wear creases to the head and heel of the spine and at the tips of the corners, and a small closed tear of about 1/8 inch at the top edge of the back panel. Purple colored cloth covered boards show some fading along the edges, but no edge wear. The greenish-blue topstain shows fading. Rough edged text block shows foxing spots.
