S. , and suggesting many improved practice requirements. The primary threat was fire--either by accident or sabotage--with the danger being greatly multiplied by the wartime congestion of vessels in the water and cargo on the piers at major ports. Prepared for the U. S. Coast Guard. Lots of interesting information. Bound in printed blue paper covers, saddle-stapled binding. Tiny tear to edge of front cover at head of spine, faint browning toward edges of covers.

Near fine. 19th century binding of calf spine and fore corners with brown pebbled cloth sides, spine ornamented and ruled in black, red leather spine label titled in gilt. Rubs to extremities, a bit of chipping to title label on spine but no loss of text. Yellow endpapers a bit discolored, woodcut plates in text somewhat browned, else fine. A handsome copy of this important campaign biography.. Frontispiece engraved portrait, woodcut plates. Campaign biography of the first Republican Presidential nominee.
