Rubbing and deterioration to leather-wrapped boards, mostly limited to edges and corners. Title plaques to spines all missing except for one on Volume 1. Previous owner's ex-libris sticker on front endpaper of both books. Hinges of Volume 1 mildly cracked. Mild to moderate foxing to all pages.

John Murray, 1962. Hardcover. Very good/None. Translated by Aurobindo Bose. Jacket is scuffed and edgeworn, with soiling to back cover. Top corner of front jacket and top spine end is torn. Bottom edge of jacket has minor chips and tears. Pages are marked and underlined in blue ink throughout. Front endpaper bears previous owner's inscription. Title page has sticker residue, but text remains unobscured. Boards are firm and even with very little edgewear. Spine is slightly sunned at top end. Black lettering and deco on cover and spine is clear and unfaded. Binding is separating throughout.

Penguin Books, 1949. First Edition. Paperback. Good/N/A. First edition, no print number specified. Pelican Books A182. Cover rubbing with edge wear and tanning both on cover and interior pages. Text block is partially separated from spine, and binding is visible in gutter of first page. A few other pages have binding visible in gutter, however all pages remain intact. Pages are clean and unmarked.

S. S. McClure, Limited, 1895. Hardcover. Very good/None. With 250 illustrations. Pages are clean and unmarked, aside from previous owner's name stamped to front endpaper and a marking in red on front pastedown. There is a tear at the bottom of page 153 that does not affect text. Boards are soiled, with fraying at tips. Spine has is slightly chipped and frayed at top and bottom, but otherwise square and tight. Gilt title lettering on boards and spine is clear and unfaded. Hinges are secure, but front hinge cracked at title page.

Suttaby, Evance & Fox, 1819. Hardcover. Good/None. Translated by John Hoole. A miniature book, 5.125x3 inches. Mildly curved boards with wear around the edges including bumped corners and spine ends. Front hinge cracked though binding remains fairly strong on the whole. Liquid staining to many pages near beginning and end of book. Previous owner's inscription on reverse side of front endpaper. Title page and frontspiece heavily foxed. Spine leans slightly.

Garden City Publishing, 1928. Hardcover. Very good/Good. With 520 illustrations from drawings made especially for this book. Pages are lightly browned and unmarked except for previous owner's name on fore-edge. Top stain is faded and have a couple stains. Front pastedown endpaper has a crack along hinge, but binding is still firm with a slight lean. Boards are clean with lightly crushed spine ends and light rubbing on bottom edges. Jacket is missing pieces around front corners and there are deep chips around spine ends and top edges. Mylar has been added to protect jacket from further damage.

Kilbourne Tompkins, 1875. Hardcover. Good/None. With 20 illustrations by Noel Paton. Rubbing to boards with bumped/frayed corners and spine ends. Wrap is somewhat loose and wrinkling at top left corner of front cover. Previous owner's ex-libris sticker on front pastedown endpaper. Large crease with tears to both free endpapers. Previous owner's name on first page with foxing and spotty discoloration around to many pages, especially around the edges. Boards mildly curved. Binding remains firm.

From Apuleius' Metamorphoses, or The Golden Ass. Jacket is protected in archival sleeve with mild wear to corners and spine ends. Boards are straight and clean save for small white mark to top edge of rear board. Binding is tight, spine is straight and all pages are clean and unmarked.

Pages are tanned and marked with previous owner's lightly penciled underlining and notes, as well as previous owner's signature in red ink on the front endpaper. Boards are firm and even with very little wear. Binding is separating throughout. Accompanying box is browned, soiled and worn, with chipping and tearing along edges and at corners. Surface is chipped, dinged and frayed.

Red edges. Illustrations, pictures and diagrams are present throughout. Sun fading to spine and a portion of the front board of Vol. 101. Slightly cracked/fragile hinges. Typical wear to edges and boards from shelf wear and handling. Pages are bright, clean, and unmarked.

Pages are browned and free endpaper at front is missing a corner. Pages are otherwise intact. Boards show heavy use with wrinkling on the back board and a few bumps and gashes on the front board.

Some sparse mild tanning and discolorations to interior pages, but they remain fairly clean overall - no writing is present.

Fading, slight curve and reading creases to spine, with some chipping to cover around the hinge towards the bottom of book. Edge wear and creases to corners. Line from yellow marker in margin on page 19 and previous owner's name written on inside of front cover, otherwise pages are clean and unmarked though tanned. Binding is tight.
